I would guess. Did you redownload the new client? You need to uninstall the old version and download the new one from worldofwarcraft.com.

I left the downloading running when I went to sleep and in the morning I found that it had timed out. Since this was on a laptop, my wife took it to work with her but found that even on their studly backbone the download rate still hovered around 10-20. Feh.

Yeah, from the WoW forums, it sounds like it was feast or famine. I was two days late on the last one and I had no problems at all.

Seems like the later you download it the faster it is. Last night i was getting 10-15kbs max, on a comcast cable modem. This morning and afternoon it's now in the 100's.

I am a firm hater of Bit torrent...

it pisses me off that i need to help support those with a lower bandwidth rate than myself..

why should 75% of my bandwidth go towards passing on the file to others while only 25% is reserved for my download..

kinda makes owning broadband pointless.

I've had no better than 7k/sec download since last night. It's been running about 17 hours or so, and I"ve gotten less than a quarter of the way, according to the little blue bar.

It's nice to see that I'm uploading at about 10k/sec when I'm downloading at 1k/sec though. Makes me feel like a really team player. :beatup

10 down 16 up and it's in spurts. I've tried reconnecting several times tonight... get 2 or 3 MBS downloaded... then it peters off to zero. Bit torrent is way cool.

Looks like I'll just let it sit and hope it's still connected. I wish there was some indicator that you were still communicating with the network.

You're trying to download it in the middle of the evening? Wait until 10pm or later - I started mine at around midnight (PST), went to bed, and woke up to a completed download.

I think I figured out my problem. I have to connect to a VPN network to use the outlook client for my school email, and it seems that while that thing is running, I don't get squat. When I'm logged out of that, however, I got 10-20 k/sec or so, which beat the crap out of the 1 or 0 I was getting earlier ;)

All downloaded now, but dunno when I"ll have time to log on and play.

I've discovered my issue is with the "3" downloader. It downloads like crazy for a couple minutes then takes over all systems resources (CPU at 100%). Once that happens, data transfer all but ceases. It's a known bug but I can't resolve it as others have. :hmph

15 hours download.. *sigh* 2 gigs is just crazy.

I gave up and downloaded from work. Swung by the office to burn it to disc now. I have the Linksys bug that maxxes out the CPU. No drivers work even retro ones and it's only an issue with this one downloader. :p Hope that's fixed prior to retail.

Yeah, their Bit Torrent seems to have some major issues. I can easily get 50k+ using other Bit Torrents on other files but I was thrilled to get 20k on the Blizzard one. Can't wait 'till they find a better way to patch so that we don't have do re-install everytime they want to make any major changes.

As for your uploads being higher than downloads... change your connection speed to "Cable Modem - slow." That will limit your upload speed to 10k so that it doesn't eat up all your bandwidth for downloading.

Well bit torrent's download speed is based on the number of other [s:8686b9e040]workers[/s:8686b9e040] clients who are able to [s:8686b9e040]redistribute[/s:8686b9e040] upload the files you need, [s:8686b9e040]comrade[/s:8686b9e040]. :)

The pool of people downlading for the WoW beta is probably a lot smaller than what you are used to when using the client elsewhere..

For those still following along and cursed with the Linksys LNE100TX incompatibility with the new WoW downloader as I was-

Works like a freaking charm.

Thanks to Acaila at the WoW tech forums for finding this work around.
