View Full Version : shaman are nice!
Well I been playing WoW for awhile now and tried just about every class except shaman. I don't know why I never tried it. This class may get me to purchase the game if they dont screw with it too much by the time live comes. I actually stoped playing beta for awhile becuase the game was no fun for me. Well I saw some stats posted and saw no one played a shaman. I was like wierd so I logged back in and gave it a shot. Man are they fun as hell. Very versitile. Can do some nice damage and take a minor beating.
I think I like it so much is because you really change your strategy depinding on what your fighting. You have to think about what totem you need to place depending on the mob. What magic type are you going to use now that resists are in. You have to keep your melee skills up because you will be brawlin. Its just so much more interesting then the other classes.
Give them a shot if you havn't, you'll have tons of fun.

Nice, I always like casters that are a challenge rather than straight foward heal or nuke types. How do they fare in pvp?
Havnt been able to PvP with him yet because there are a **** ton of high level people on the pvp server that will just 1 shot you. Only level 17 right now so it's hard finding an even fight. I'll let you know when I catch up to people.
Shaman rock, I'm loving my guy. Just hit 20 and now i've got Ghost Wolf Form. I can transform into the wolf and I run about as fast as a mounted character. The totems are fun and interesting, the quests for them are a blast. Our taunt totem isn't bad at all, neither are the damage absorbers, healers, or damag giving totems. You have to know what to do with your mana, but with heals, self-weapon buffs, lightning shields, instacast DDs, instacast DD+DOT, regular DD's, resurrection spells, dispells....you've pretty much got everything. An asset to any group, and powerful as well. I'm easily killing things 3-4 levels above me.
PVP so far isn't too hard as a shammy, the only problem is that the totem range is small so people can run away from them, but with our snare totem we can really slow them down. The instacast DD's hurt and shaman melee is great too.
Oh, and a Shaman and a Rogue is a powerhouse duo. Warriors work well too.

i'm a shaman level 31 currently on the normal server
shaman are VERY versitile and are a Chain class(at 40th level) so they can tank...
we can use
mace
stave
axe
dagger
i tend to use stave/dagger/axe and not the mace
currently i have at 31st 450ac+ and my dps is about 22ish if i use rockbiter....
except for recently shaman were one of the best caster killers in the game, especially vs mages...tremor totem cancelled sleep ability,. but with polymorph in...no more sleep wakey wakey.
we have ae damage totems
dd totem
weapon enhancing totems (dd spell effect on all group weapons-semi bugged atm)
mana regen totems (not worth it atm )
hp regen totems( good for LONG fights)
damage reducing totems
taunt totems (our version of crowd control, it works GREAT)
strength totems
snare totems
and a full line of spells-with instants that interupt casting...
on a pull if i am long distance- barring resists - i can do about 4-500 damage from the time the first spell hits to the time the spawn gets into melee range..(2 lightning bolts and a lightning shock)
vs casters instead of pulling you charge,
cast long distance spell and charge, using the instant the sec you get into range, you interupt then keep using that and tada its dead FAST...
Yeah startign to think shaman are way overpowered. Played right and you cant be defeated it seems. Took on a boss 4 levels higher level then me last night with ease. I always drop a healing totem and stoneskin totem every single fight. End up with full health by the end of it. PvP im just destroying people heads up at the same level. The mage still takes me out with some ease if they are invisible but thats the price i have to pay to kill everyone else.
I have a nice pimp weapon i got from WC that I still use that help a ton. It's a stinging viper that has a poison proc on it. Heres the crazy thing. Shaman procs stack with it. I also enchanted it with some more damage. Take out people so easily.
Things that save me the most: Instant cast remove poison, Instant cast remove disease, Instant cast Ice shock that slows enemy movement, Instant cast earth shock that disrupts spell casting and does a **** ton of damage, shaman procs, lighting shield so when people hit you they take a ton of damage. Now add on top of that leather armor and shield and then you get chain at 40. Damn thats the uberest tank mage ever.
