It looks like the Virginia data center housing the World of Warcraft beta servers was experienced a direct tornado hit Friday night.The Servers are "drying out" and the network engineers are working diligently to bring things back up.</p><blockquote>

The US World of Warcraft beta test will remain offline for the remainder of Sunday and into Monday, and possibly longer. As soon as we have an estimate on when we will be able to restore service, we'll share that information here. Our thanks go out again for your continued patience and support. </p></blockquote>

I saw the tornado that hit the datacentre on my way home from work that day - it wasn't pretty.

On the forums it was amusing because first folks were saying, "Oh, I bet it's just a software problem, not hardware". I think it's safe to say someone lost a bet. I hope they get it all straightened out soon.

Dayum!catastrophe aside, that's an impressive turn over on the system. Kudos to Blizzard for valuing their beta players that much. I have a whole new impression on the level of CS for this game when it goes retail. :applaud
