attacked in stealth?

what happened: i was sneaking through the pygmie goblins and the pikemen spawns in lyonesessseses when a gob argoed onto me and started beating me when i was still stealthed. at level 37 i have 40 stealth and i thoughy they would have to uncover me first before they started laying the smack down on me.

whats up with that?
