Geez I'm all typed out folks sorry. The gist? Well new server will be diety based - Good, evil, neutral. Comes up in 2-3 weeks.
Many more details on the Shanks board along with additional comments on the other games at E3.
Let me also preface this by saying my post was made in rebuttal to a thread on the VZ board which in turn quoted the TZ board. I didn't post this earlier because I wasn't sure if I was getting privledged info at the time (though was never told not to talk about it) but, since this other guy obviously knew what's up...I spilled too.

It looks good to me, but a handful of griefers may spoil it all. Anyway, me and a friend are planning to play on there if we like it, and will probably start a Nuetral team, I'll post here in the Arena about it when we finalize everything.

Oh it wasn't specified anywhere I saw, and maybe they haven't decided yet, but will it be item-loot or coin-only?
I don't know what the loot is.
Also, I may be taking back things I said about signing up for Anarchy Online immediately. I just talked to a beta tester who said that he crashed frequently. Apparently so many folks did that the number of beta testers dropped dramatically.

Yah Anarchy Online seems more in the alpha stages then beta. I'm psyched about DAoC and may dabble in Shadowbane if I hear some good feedback once large numbers of people start up and say it's pretty good.
Realm based combat just seems like soo much fun tho.

Don't worry, they are going to do something to prevent bind camping such as a period of invulnerability to P v P after death. This was mentioned on the boards. It may not be a pure solution, but it's a start. One problem for melees, however, is if your bind point is far away from your corpse and if your corpse is camped...

I should have stuck with "within 5 levels" of each other instead incorrectly converting "within 5 levels" = "=/-4".

bahh, if there is exp loss for PvP, there better be exp GAIN for PvP! bad idea imho on this one. so is the no limit PvP killing, ive met people who would level up just to kill n00bs. you all have met them too, they are called delevelers in most places. so, screw this server if its with these rules. Yep, the delevelers and grief players will love it. I saw what Abashi said about the no invulnerability period, it sounds pretty bad...
Assuming it's deity based, which deities will be good and evil?
Evil: Cazic, Innoruuk, Bertoxxulous
Neutral: Bristlebane, Duke of Bellow, Karana, agnostic, Sol Ro, Veeshan, that water one, Rallos Zek? (most ogres are Rallos worshippers...)
Good: Tunare, Brell, the Tribunal, Erollisi?

The Zeks surely are evil. The Giants(hill,ice,fire,storm) and Ogres are evil, and were created by Rallos zek.
If corpse camping is allowed, there must be something to offset it. Maybe its a 'monty haul'(??) server. All named always spawn and always drop the good gear.
Devleveling at least was addressed in the last patch wasn't it? Where you drop your skills to within 2 levels of where you end up after the deaths? Ex. Going from 20 to 10 you will only have the skills of a level 12.

yeah, but this sorta throws that patch out the window frika. instead of deleveling from 45 to 30 to kill people in ill omen, now they wont have to delevel at all. just immagin some 45 SK in gfay or something one shoting n00bs with a 2hander or a MoSS. or some necro with splurt? just to see them die?

well its total out of balance.
For one, the lightie races will be battling between themselves on Antonica and Faydwer, deleveling each other.
Iksar will have undisputed evil levelling grounds that no agnostic/good chars really can penetrate.
Everyone will be training guards and mobs onto one another.
Item loot will make nekkid caster appear anew, and grief play - mages and necros will be abundant again.
And the mass-area devastate spells will wreak havoc in most newbie zones non stop - for example the enchanter earthquake spell for 300+ hp in wide area will be all time favourite.
codename: griefplay & chaos.
Agree with you totally Karlek. This is a recipe for disaster. They had some good ideas, but threw a bunch of bad ones in with em. I think I stay right where I be till DAoC (oooh, unintentional rhythm).

It'll be good for a laugh. The Abashi interview indicates that he thinks maybe 30 level 1s could take on a level 30 who tries to do it. Every day will be the Beggar Bash (an event I threw in the arena on my bluebie server). On the brighter side, beggars will definitely have some occupational hazards.
(But don't you think there's a chance that the sanctuary level thing will still exist preventing most newbie camping?)
This is like handing everyone in the world an assault rifle and submachine gun and saying. DON'T SHOOT PEOPLE FOR THE FUN OF IT. BUT if someone pisses you off, whoever they are, mow them down!!! BEWARE though, other people will come to their rescue! No sweat though, we have disbanded the police system =)

As if the Zeks already didn't look enough like a scene from the Lord of the Flies.... But it will be interesting. Will thirty level 1s be able to keep a bullying level 24 shaman from poison-raining the newbie yard of the Paineel? Will anyone come to the rescue of victimized newbies?
Will a G Faydark zone full of 20-30s be able to stop a level 59 dark elf from coming into town and killing the guards?
Maybe self-policing will actually work to some degree...

Funny, this is almost exactly like the joke idea I proposed a month ago.
A hundred level 1 characters have as much chance at taking out Cazic Thule as they have about taking out a level 60 Wizard.

In reguards to the loot think it was stated as "cash only for now"
Wont the opening of the lvl limits help fix the out of range healers and such?
I can't wait for this server to open up. Would love to start on a server like rallos if they opened one up fresh.

Is this really true? Please oh please say they are going follow through on this. It would rid the economy of camping and farming for account alternates. It will allow characters to develop more fully without interference from said campers and farmers. Finally, it will force characters to more fully "play out" their single charcater; hopefully allowing for a higher degree of role play.
I can play on any server and adapt. But after roughly two years of EQ I still have not come to accept Verant's ingrained philosopyy of playing for your alternates. Its so anti-social to the primary game player.
If they implement this one rule I'll jump to that server and give it a whirl.

All you need is a second account and you can twink. Not very complicated. And eq is a game about levels. I could care less how many level 10s you throw at that level 50 nec with his pet in the zone your @#%$. His pet alone with augment death will rain death on newbies from the likes we have yet to see.

Hmm I think if they totally remove the level based resistance modifiers it wont be that bad as it is now (meaning 60 level 20's could maybe kill a 60 wiz instead of having no chance at all well... maybe not but at least they could hit the wizzie a bit before dying).
But seeing as you get like +10 or -10 for each level difference on all your resists (theres some effect of skill vs the level of your opponent too in melee combat I think)... high level people are just about immune to anything and low levels are sitting ducks.
If they somehow neutralise that bonus/penalty it might make the server more or less playable, if they dont well... *shrug*.
Another thing... I can see it coming, the bands of people who group with a level 5 and a level 60 where the 60 almost finishes someone and the level 5 gets the final blow and loots.

60 level 20's cant touch a level 60. a level 60 necro can rip 100 20's. The spectre pet can pretty much mow all of them down. plus with necro hp drain dots even after they die
My point is though, how long would a level 60 be standing around say, Highpass, without attracting higher levels to kill him? Who on earth will want to make good characters if no higher levels on the good team will defend their own zones?
Because there isn't going to be one level 60 in a vacuum. But even if there is some sort of imbalance where good or neutral cannot defend Highpass or even Freeport, then the evil team will control the zone. Who is to say that's bad? That's a dynamic world right there, something that doesn't exist on any Zek server. Who knows, if the evil team controlled Freeport for a long time, maybe the GMs would have an event where Antonius Bayle would arrive and lead a crusade to retake Freeport, or maybe try to gather forces from Butcherblock to make a landing.
Note: I've seen the pictures of a ranger protest where everyone made dozens and dozens oflevel 1 rangers flooded Crushbone to protest ranger weakness. These rangers were able to kill everything in the zone, including Emperor Crush (D'Vinn did not spawn however). It's entirely possible for 60 level 20s who loot their weapons and rush back in after death, to kill a level 60, especially a caster who can be interrupted. If not kill, cause LD to such a caster.
