There are some nice WoW transportation videos here...

Personal Mounts
It's neat that they're using bittorrent for patching/downloading, but it's too bad they're using their own bittorrrent client.

BT is great, If people stay on them.
If I was blizzard, Id force people to upload about half of what they download or the file is corrupt (like if ya try to run it before your ration is .5 or somethin). If ya cant at least upload that, shouldnt be DL'n stuff in the first place.

I hope they intellegently limit the bandwith bittorrent uses while you're in the game, or patch days will really suck(at least bandwith-wise ).

Nah, patch days are going to rock hard, because the standard Battle.net kiddies are gonna be lagging out the ass, while those of us who know how to limit the amount of bandwidth to allow certain programs to use will be gettin' in and enjoying the peace and quiet.

Kinda silly to force users to download a special 3 meg "movie downloader" file instead of just seeding the file and providing a .torrent link.

They're using a 'branded' client.

The video was great, I hope they do more mount based videos.

Not only did they purchase Bittorrent (kinda), they purchased Brian Cohen, the creator--he works for them now.
I think it was a good idea, since the guy was practically living off credit cards until somebody at Valve took notice and offered him a job. They will most likely have him programming some kind of patch distribution software for Steam.
I think this will work great, even if people don't stay on it. They probably have multiple connections seeding at ~3 mb/sec (at least), so even if people are leaching or stopped downloading there should be enough bandwidth to go around.
If people are forced to upload twice as much as they download than people on cable will be stuck seeding for outragious times (since we can download much faster than we can upload.

Same with DSL (download >> upload) and also, uploading really clogs the DSL pipe.

New Sneak Peak of the cinematic intro for WoW movie is up. Its lookin really good. If only the gameplay can be half this good.
ugh, i don't like the bit torrent, my school's firewall blocks everything, I would rather just download it off the internet.

The cinematic movie was impressive. Too bad the game won't
look like that. To me the movie just emphasized how much
better EQ2's graphics will be than WoW's.
That said..I will still play wow IF it comes out before EQ2.
Which unfortunately is looking more and more likely.

depending other people to be on to patch might be fine during beta, but once the game is live i honestly dont want to depend on a bittorent style system to patch as i doubt ill ever get the 380k DL off that like i do from a EQ style patcher.
