TV station News 14 Carolina had a handy online service that allowed local businesses to announce closings due to bad weather. Then, those closings were scrolled on-screen. It was a good idea, but didn't take long for some kids at North Carolina State University to figure out the system was easy to hack.

All that glitters... Even the stars
All things precious... Even your life
The King of Bandits can steal them all

This was posted on Somethingawful.com, I think a lot of these hackings were from there.

Most of them look pretty fake, generally they would yank the news off the air as soon as they saw something funny like this being displayed--they can get in big trouble for broadcasting the naughty words. You there, fill it up with petroleum distillate, and re-vulcanize my tires, post-haste! Also, I'd like to send this letter to the Prussian consulate in Siam by aeromail. Am I too late for the 4:30 autogyro?

It wasnt the news that was broadcasting the information. There is a seperate "weather warning" system that has nothing to do with Channel 14 or what ever it was.

The news channel probably had no clue that was going on at the time!
