Anyway for the peanut gallery. The question was:
How does one get 'keyed" for the Howling Stones?

Is it just a drop from the "big mob" in Kaesora? And what mob is it?

Go to Kaesora:

Kill Xalgoz in the "church" Loot: Xalgozian Fang (no drop weapon)

Then go to Lake of Ill Omen Kill the Chancelor in the Sarnak Fortress. Loot: Jade Chodaki Prod (2hr spawn on him btw. 200 to 500pp in bazaar)

Bring both to Swamp of No Hope Durgoz (named frog near city) at new /loc in the Swamp of No Hope: -250, -1800

What level mobs are Xalgoz and the Chancellor? Xalgoz repop time? ie possible to get Fang for entire party camping him?

Xalgoz con'd light blue to a 58, dark blue to a 50 if memory serves. He's on a roughly 30 minute spawn time. Drops two fangs now every time, so its not as hard as it used to be.

The chancellor is level 46 ~ 48 I think. Barely was able to solo with my 53 druid with all pre-kunark gear. Should be cake for any 50+ duo these days.

Chancellor is a 2 hour spawn without PH, IIRC.

Yes, I worded that unclearly.

He's still a PH/named setup, with the spot spawning every 30ish minutes with either him or a PH. 2nd mob for us was Xalgoz.

Can you still MQ this? I tried to MQ the fang for my cleric with my chanter but it was a no go. The frog kept giving back the fang saying he didn't need it so I couldn't get my cleric her key.

Any idea?

If you can't even give the FIRST part, that has nothing to do with MQ. You had to have had the wrong frog (need Durgoz (sp?)).

He doesn't drop fangs everytime. Some times he doesn't drop any. Sometimes one. At most he drops two. He will usually have fangs though. 8 out of 10 times I would say.

If someone gave a fang already without giving the spear - you would get that same message about not needing the item..

up to you if you wanna risk just handing in the spear, or waiting for a server reset.

About a year ago he was changed to drop two fangs every time.

He does not always drop 2 fangs. A Blade of Xalgoz can sometimes take the place of one of the fangs. But in general, about 3/4 of the time he drops 2 fangs.

First of all i know it's an older post but,

Isn't it supposed to be called Howling Stones also known as Charasis.

2nd The camps are simple. I took a 52 druid and had a 55 monk for the Chancellor in the sarnak fort, the monk could solo him.l

the Xalgoz camp, we had the same monk, me 52 druid and i think a cleric and shaman both around the low 50s and that was overkill.


Also Dugroz's spawn is near the froglock city in swamp of no hope, near where the froglock spawns for the druid epic.

Bah ... blame it on EQ last night ... explored Sol C tilll the wee hours of the morning and had to get up and wife wanted to get up early and bike to work rather than drive.
