Looking for recommendations on a GPS that will be used mostly on my laptop along with Mappoint 2004 or Streets & Trips 2004. If I could use it without the laptop that would be a plus for when I go hiking.

Garmin GPS rock and they have this one (http://www.garmin.com/products/gps18/) for the pc!

Garmin or Magellan, from there it depends on features. Those are the two brands to look it.
