just got 16, have thieves tools and have a quest from the rogues guild to open some chests.

How do I practice on my skill?

There are a bunch of practice SI:7 chests that you can use. You need to take the lockpicking skill from your abilities book and put it on a hotkey bar. Click the button and then use the glowing hand to click on those locked boxes. Oh, and be careful of what will be sneaking around after you open some of those boxes.

The trainer in Orgrimmar trained rogues to skill 225 in lockpicking at 16. It was a glitch on Blizz's part, because you're not suppose to be able to go right to the third tier of lockpicking before you've ever done it ;)

Course it was /bugged weeks and weeks ago, not sure it is still like that.

The trainer in Stormwind seems to do the same thing. Not the general rogue trainer but the actual lockpick trainer. Basically it was free to train the 2nd and 3rd tiers.

First Beta push I trained up on player made (engineering) practice locks. Of course it's good to get the a friend discount because those can get expensive.
