They get a upgrade from leather to chain, figures. At the moment rogues don't recieve an armor upgrade, haven't heard any news to add it in the future either.
As for the class, they look really cool. The hunter NPC's in game are able to shoot poison shots at you, so I assume these will be able to do the same. Maybe they will buy poison from rogues? ;). I don't know how much I'd like to be a range attacker though, I like getting up-into the action too much.
