That would be cool except I hate lag, hate FilePlanet, and actually want to play the game.
Edit: I can't believe I'm actually sitting at this page going, "Well, $7.90 really is pretty cheap..."

Actually, you'd most likely be getting the "Real Beta Experience" while playing uner the stress test, since lag is a normal, chronic part of the beta (along with multiple reboots followed by stability, followed by multiple and random reboots).
It's still damn fun though!

I am already a subscriber to Fileplanet, having followed this game for almost 2 years ,to me 7 or 8 dollars for an hour of play time is worth it, let alone 7 days!! Even if it is laggy, there is no way it can compare to HZ or SB release days!! What cr@p and I paid $40 each for those experiences.

I also considered paying the 7 bucks. Then my fanboism ebbed and I remembered I hate fileplanet.

**** Fileplanet.
I can't believe Blizzard is still 'endorsing' them. It's almost as bad as the extortionism that Sony exhibited with making beta testers pay for their beta CDs for SWG.
Hell, maybe worse.

Blizzard had a HORRIBLE experience last patch distributing their files. Let's just say it worked like crap and set the boards on fire with flames.
They are probably trying to cover their bases by outsourcing that problem to a third party this time.
At least that's the only conceivable way I can see it.
Hey think of it this way, for your monthly fee you get 7 days of WoW and entry into the Tribes Vengeance beta.

Shoulda outsourced to the safehouse!
id be charging a hell of a lot more than 7.99 for a 2 gig download...

I was about to suggest "Just make it Bittorrent" but well... we were all there for last patch ;)
Stress test vaguely implies, to me at least, that the open beta will follow shortly afterwards - and then release.
Say a few weeks until the next real patch (rest of talents + bugfixes + a little more content + nerfing rogues :P), stress test a few weeks after that, open beta a few weeks after that and then release in...mid-late November?

i didnt really have a problem with the bittorent d/ls. if you were one of the first people trying to get it when it *just* came out, it was a bit slow, but even then i was pulling down at 80-120kbps.
if you get it now, its been seeded to hell and back and you can get 500k+.
but i know a lot of people did have problems with it.
Actually, you don't need to pay 8 dollars to play in the stress test. You are just guaranteed a spot. I just created a filePlanet account and downloaded the client from their "public" servers.
Much like cosmod said, I opted not to give fileplanet my money. I was dinking around earlier, went to fileplanet, wow, and saw a link to sign up for the beta, even if you havent paid. Did so. Came back this eveneing to an invite to the stress test. I then saw this on the WoW Community page:
Anyone interested in getting an advance look at World of Warcraft can now sign up for a chance to participate in the upcoming World of Warcraft stress test beta! While thousands of test slots were snatched up by FilePlanet subscribers during the priority-access period earlier this week, thousands more remain available. However, potential testers must sign up quickly, because the remaining test slots will be distributed on a first come, first served basis until they’ve all been claimed.
The stress test beta, which will start soon after all 100,000+ test slots have been assigned, will help Blizzard evaluate World of Warcraft’s account-creation process and server performance under heavy loads. This seven-day test will be separate from the ongoing World of Warcraft closed beta test, but stress testers will have access to all of the game content that closed-beta testers are currently playing. To learn more about the upcoming stress test beta, please visit the World of Warcraft Stress Test Beta FAQ.
hopefully some more of you can, or will get in.

I start to be really curious about why Blizzard is so against anyone but north america players.
I hear that they still have *a lot* of spots left for the Stress Test for non-Fileplanet subscribers,
regardless of all the talk about how most of the slots would go to loyal FP subscribers and the rest of the slots would be tossed into the air for the cheap public-server hounds to fight over. ;P
I just had a few family members who are non-FP subcribers access the site, and get a slot without having to go through any trouble at all.

i highly doubt blizzard is "against" any nationality of players. im sure the north american limitation is due to some sort of hardware or bandwidth or legal restriction. they'd be pretty stupid to cut out anything beyond north america, they'd alienate a huge player base.
and there are asian and european betas going on i think.. or maybe i just misread something, hm.
from what i understand its typical of a company like blizzard/vevendi to sign a contract with an oversea's distributer/supplier for a game like WoW.
alot of the wordage prevents them from using players from a different region. SWG had a similar arraingement, with SWG in europe being set up

Prolly. It means we will have localized versions forced upon us despite the fact a lot of us does not want to play that way.
I really wonder why things are going downside. UO was the first worldwide game and things were perfect: you could play from everywhere without problems. Since UO games tend to try to break market in several areas so publisher can try to make more money, while in my opinion they lose more customers that way.

Blizzard just announced that all the free keys from FilePlanet are now gone and only subscriber versions are left.
Translation: Europeans usually get left to the mercy of ubisuck, who are the only company with worse service than the worst of the real MMOG companies. Not that I'm bitter about that. Not that I will have imported US versions so I don't have to play on european servers in games. Not that you'll never ever find me on anything other than a primarily US east coast server in any game because that's where all my friends will play.

Yea.
If you are still waiting. just re-regester at Fileplanet, and the first e-mail format changes to contain the link you need to set up the account.

Where does it allow me "re-register" at Fileplanet? I browsed all over their site and I couldn't find an option to do anything like that. :frown

Ditto...not even a hint of lag, even in the most populated of areas.
