Does the race u choose affect stats like eq and daoc?
and do races have special ability's?

At this time it's mostly irrelevant.

Undead have some immunities to mind-type spells; they are also vulnerable to undead-only spells (such as one Paladin aura). Other than that, it's really all about personal preference and taste.

It's assumed that all the races will have bonuses and penalties at release.

Undead don't need to breathe, so can stay deep underwater hiding if needed. Are also immune to sleep, charm and fear. Not to mention being the coolest thing since ice cream

which seem to be broken atm. the sleep/fear part at least. underwater breathing is super nice. i had one quest where i had to kill some loch ness type underwater sea snake thing, and it required a lot of patrolling around a few dozen feet off shore, and would have been a serious pain in the ass if i could just go underwater and stay there.

ive been both sleeped and feared, so it doesnt seem to be working as intended yet. but im sure thats just a matter of time.

other than that, i like my undead rog. the lack of a proper pants graphic is a bit annoying though. id like to cover my knobby boney knees.

does race affect hit points/stats?

i did notice on a website that your starting stats are different depending on race. i would expect that a dwarf rogue should end up with higher health and lower agility scores long term.

Yes, Race effects HP. Alliance side, Dwarves have the highest STA and thus have the most HP to start with. They have the lowest AGI and thus, have the lowest Dodge, Crit and (if Rogue or Hunter) DPS.

Sure about sleep? I was in a group fighting a boss from the Wailing Caverns last night, Mutanus the Devourer and he would sleep our tank and healers a lot... but I tanked him in the mean time and never got put to sleep. Fought him like 7 times :(, group was mainly 18-19 and I was 22. He was a 24+ that hit for 100's

edit: sig

it seems to vary by mob. some mobs can sleep you, come cant. i know i was sleeped and feared by some crap in 1k needles, but have been immune to it from other things.

Oh I think someone mentioned this before. If the spell is called sleep or fear then you'd be immune if it is called something else you will not have immunity.
That is second hand info though.

Different races also gain stats at different rates. For example, dwarf warriors both start with more stamina and gain more stamina going 1-55 than gnome warriors going 1-55.
