View Full Version : Warrior Question
I've been looking at WoW recently and have wondered one thing about the warrior class in WoW...
Is it like other games where to be a useful tanker in PvE you must almost outright sacrifice all PvP power? Even if you are not a warrior I'm sure you may have seen some signs either way for this. Any info would be very useful in helping me decide what class to go when it does come out.
-edit-
Changed title because apparently about and then warriors is censored...

If you want groups, you have to go full defensive. DPS and warriors are not meant to be even dreamt of.
Personally, I find that attitude abhorrent, but it's pretty much the way most WoW players are thinking right now. It sucks.
I played a Troll Warrior in Stress Test Beta to level 28, and I gotta tell you: being a defensive warrior sucks. When soloing, using a good two handed weapon in battle stance was far superior to 1h + shield + defensive stance. I spent most of my time grouped with a real-life friend who played a shaman. The shaman's ability to melee and cast DD spells would cause me to constantly struggle to keep aggro while in defensive mode, simply because I could not keep up with his damage. Add to the fact that Defensive stance has almost no good abilites.
I think the whole "warriors suck at DPS" thing is a farce; They only suck if they go all out in defense.
Of course, I did not even reach half of max level - I am not sure how the game dynamics will change in the end game. However, I do know I will be wielding a 2h sword when the game comes out.
From the other information I got, most said that if you put some points in defense (mainly to improve taunt in the defensive line) and spent the rest into arms mastery and some in fury, you can both tank and dish out some real pain. That and many suggested keeping a shield and sword as well as a 2 hander.
I think the no damage thing is just like Clerics in DAoC (and Priests in WoW)... People say that to try and make sure that you only exsist to serve them and have no will otherwise. Odds are if I make a priest I will go shadow mastery just because of that.
People just like play other people's games. Nothing new.
