Packet loss or Lag??

Since yesterday my internet connection has been very slow and bogged down. When I log to everquest all my actions are delayed. For example, when I hit the sneak button it takes like 5 seconds for the message to appear in my chat box. Or when I im attacking a mob and press auto attack it takes about 5 seconds for the melee dmg to appear in the chat box.


Also I the far left number on the latency bar is always yellow and fluxuates from about 650 to 750. How do I fix this? It just started happening yesterday out of no where. btw I dont have a router or hub, just a direct connection from my computer to the cable modem.

Any ideas on what to do? Its impossible to play EQ and on top of that when I browse the net it takes forever for a page to load.

check out the tests on dslreports.com

there are bandwith, ping and a few other tests. from there you can tweak your connection but if it is just a one day thing it could be your is or sonys problems and nothing to freak out about.

Hmm, I did the tweak test and it says everything is fine. Yet pages still take a while to load and my latency on EQ is also constantly between 650-750. Please help!

try the ping test, try playing another online game

if its just eq problem then just chill the hell out and do something else for once, check it tommorrow. It could be a issue with SOE that has nothing to do with your computer, or it could be a problem your isp is experiencing. Generally these things correct themselves given a few hours.
