Lately I've been having a wierd problem with sounds my computer make.

Every time my mouse hovers around a link, or trolls down a list of my favorites, the speakers make a very small, quiet hum sound that last a split second.

I never had this problem before, and even if I mute the system sound I can still hear it, so I think it has something to do with the speakers.

At first I thought it was just some interference or something, but the it only makes the sound when the mouse crosses over links.

The speakers I use are Altec Lansing ACS452's. I've never really had a problem with them before.

Try lowering the "windows" volume to about the 3/4 mark and raising the volume on the speaker knob. When I used Win98 I'd get a bit of a hum when I had the Windows volume at full, but by using less windows volume and more speaker volume it went away. Not sure if it was a Windows problem or a sound card problem - I've since switched to WinXP and gotten an add-in sound card and haven't had the problem for a while.

I've got Altec Lansing ACS33 speakers.

I used to have the same bug before, it went away for no reasons at all... Bring out the Gimp!
