Now this is about the post encouraging people to buy the new copy of PC Gamer because of the load of free games it is offering (Not just demos)

My desktop does not have a DVD drive though (I know I need one, DVD burner is at the top of my chirstmas list )

But I do have a laptop that I have on the same network as my desktop that DOES have a DVD player.

Could I load the CD on my laptop then transfer the instal files from that to my desktop?

That could be possible. You could also share the laptop's DVD drive over the network (password protect the share if the network isn't your private home network) and then just run the installer that way. It should work.

Often, the installer unpacks the files to a temporary directory. If you run the installer from the other computer's drive, it then puts the temp files on your HD. So installing from the other drive might even be faster than copying all the files over first.
