Whats the basic strategy for setting up a webcam that I can use to for getting snapshots of my living room when I'm away from the house? Kind of a nanny-cam, I guess.

We are having dog sitters come by to take care of the dogs and I want to keep an eye on the water dish / kind of try to make sure they are actually there every day.

I'd like to set up a web page with my isp where I can log in and get a real time snapshot at will.

I don't know what software I need to be running on my pc or generally how best to set things up - any pointers would probably cut my time getting this working by half if it saves me a blind alley or two.

Anybody done something similar?

i don't own a webcam, so... but anyway, isn't there a software bundled with the webcam that cound do the trick ?
If not, microsoft did a powertoy thingie that lets you take pictures off your webcam at regular intervals and save them somewhere, presumably on a FTP.

I think the trick is setting up the automatic ftp to ones isp so the pics are accessible over the web.

This looks like it will be great for generating pics to upload - thanks!

www.conquercam.com is about as easy as it gets, assuming you already have space to host the images.

That looks like exactly what I want to do!

Thanks!

Also, I have the free download of 2.0.8. Newer versions might not be exactly what I'm used to... Invissibill
