View Full Version : population imbalances? does it matter?

My concern is that Alliance will outnumber Horde like 3 to 1 if not more. People want to play paladins and night elves, dwarves and sexy women. Horde doesn't have any of that. The only marginally good looking female in game is the Tauren in my opinion. And the mounts are downright ugly for horde (except undead).

I am just in love with how night elves look, and ever since I was a little girl I've wanted to be around tigers. While that desire has faded, when I saw how they did tigers in this game (as mounts for night elves) I couldn't believe it. They are stunning and I want one on a visceral level.

Now, there's a little problem if I want to play NE and that's if my husband and I play alliance, there can NOT be a big population imbalance. His contention is that WoW is partially PVP and the underdog (most likely the Horde) will need all the help they can get, and we are the people to provide that help (or at least, not contribute to the population imbalance).

Long story short, what is the effect on Alliance vs Horde population on PVP? I read the PVP post and it seems interesting how they are implimenting it. If one is drastically outnumbered, then is the underdog going to still have fun? I didn't particularly relish being the underdog in Dark Ages when we switched realms for this principle.

Right now, I think there are more Alliance than Horde (Normal server), and mostly because, even still the Alliance lands seem much more polished than the Horde's. It might also be because the Alliance have a few different zones to fight in from level 10 on, while the Undead pretty much have the Crossroads and the Undead place (Silverpine?). I really like some of what the Horde has going for it, especially the Tauren, but I loathe having to run alll over the Crossroads to level.

On the PvP server I believe there are more Horde players than Alliance players currently.

I know during that test stage when we all had to play Alliance that many people were saying how they couldn't wait to go Horde and that playing Horde was their "plan" all along when the game goes live.

I know what you mean about the visuals Kinare. When I started in Alpha we could only play Horde and I was not happy with the female choices. I kinda got used to it after a little while but looks are enough of a deterrent for me that I couldn't wait to play Alliance.

That being said, I seriously doubt that Alliance will be outnumbered 3 to 1 when the game goes live.

Kinare you underestimate the sheer amounth of loathing many of us have for elves. I will be ready and willing to chop them into little bits, as well as dorfs, gnomes, and their human lackeys. :)

And we got a ton more of people from the Zeks with similar feelings.

So don't worry, go with Alliance and be happy.

A lot of the people on I know on the Alliance have told me they plan to play horde on release, so it's like a totally new experience as far as quests/zones/cities etc.
