Problem with computer

Ok, here's the deal. I got a new Dell for christmas, I'm not very good with computers so I will try to give you all the info i can.


Problem: Random lag spikes that affect tells, memorizing spells and stuff. I don't ever go LD though. It doesn't matter if i have all options turned on, it will always do it. The lag meter looks like this most often.

OS: Windows XP Pro, all patches done
Type: Dell Dimention 4600
Memory: 74.4 Gigs (64 Gigs free)
P Processor: Pentium 4 Proccessor (HT)
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
DirectX: 9.0
Datarate: 9.0
Connection: Cable Via Wireless network (I have a Motorola cable modem whitch is a Cable Modem, Print Server, and Wireless Network all in one)

I have not played since before christmas but the monday before christmas I was getting this on machines that have been running eq for a long time.

So, it could just be EQ... but like I said I havent played in a week!

hmm..hopfully thats it..it was working on my moms machine before christmas (model down, not upgraded memory)

EQ has been laggy for a while since the last patch, so it's likely not your machine at all (Back In Black)
