I just got a DVD+/- RW from Pioneer (106D). And I got Nero 6 Ultra. I updated everything for it. But I am having some difficulties with it.

I am trying to burn some anime on it. In this case, it's One Piece. It is 512 x 384 (width x height) pixels. Using the Nerosmart Dvd-video option, I try to make it in 4:6 format (the default format that it was created on, i'm pretty sure, and I don't have a widescreen TV)

But the problem is, it does not fit the TV exactly. It is quite a bit off. (There's about 50 pixels or so cut off from the width and height) It is really annoying, because it cuts the subtitles off just a bit on the bottom and right/left sides.

Just wondering if anyone had this type of problem and knows how to fix that.

And the second question, is there a way to turn off audio from the burn? When I switched from the high quality audio to the lower quality audio (i guess) it got rid of about 200 mb. It is fustrating that my 200 mb files are converting to like 500-600 mb files on the DVD. I'd like to keep them the same 200 mb, is that possible at all? Without reducing the quality, I mean. The fact that I have it on super long play decreases the quality just a tad (I think), but it is not noticeable.

Thanks a bunch for the assistance.

This is a problem of overscan. Overscan is the part of the video image which bleeds off the edges of your screen under normal conditions.

This presents a problem when burning fansub files to play on a television because, you guessed it, they weren't meant to be played on a television to begin with. The fansubbers make use of the full picture, even what normally falls into the overscan, placing subtitles as far to the bottom as they can.

There are ways to compensate for this when burning the disc (in addition to simply adjusting the picture on TVs that support that), but it's not something I've ever had to do, so I'll let someone else get to that if they can.

I'd be interested in hearing any tips, as my mom is going to be transferring her video collection onto DVD's.

Also, I can't for the life of me find my original OEM Nero disk, is there anywhere I can get the proggie for free or low cost? (Back In Black)

Hadn't checked the thread in a while. Oops!

Thanks notwen. That makes sense.

Dragonphyre, I can't say I know much of anything about DVD burning, but I'll throw some basic info I learned through trail and error.

If you try to make a data dvd (to store info, i.e. the same was a floppy was) the file sizes stay the same. But if you try to make it so you can watch the DVD's on a DVD player, they become quite a bit bigger. With all options reduced as much as possible, the files became about 2.5 times bigger than the original.

It seems to me that DVD-R works on DVD players only, and DVD+R works on DVD players and XBOX. Neither worked with my PS2 for some reason.

These are just what I see as a new user, so it might very well be worthless info that has to do with my general newbieness.
