Hello fellow scavangers,
a question regarding the BoT blue metal piece.
I read somewhere that a good way to get past Thunderclap & Co is to take the ledge, which is on the outer wall of the "arena".
Now, I'm not particularly known with the lay-out of the BoT towers, but I knew I had to take the North-East one and work myself up. And so I did.
I made it to the upper level and into the arena below Thuderclap, and could also see the ledge. The only problem is; it's too high to jump on.
When you arrive at the upper level (with the portal on your left side), there are 2 ways to come closer to the spawn point. The shorter one, to the right, led to the arena. The left one appeared to be a longer way, moving around the arena in a large, circular shape.
The most annoying point, of course, was a SoS-seeing mob in the way leading the left.
Now, my question is, should I figure out a way to get past the see-SoS mob and take the long route (I saw there was a hallway close to the ledge while I was standing in the arena), or can I still go right immediately and make my way up?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Only the long route will get you to the metal as far as i know (as for the see-SoS maybe you were unlucky cause i had none when i got mine)
The small bag is hard to see btw (brown bag in a brown-orange environment)
Yeah, you have to go left when you come up the final set of steps, and go all the way down to the end, then out onto that ledge, and all the way back as far as you go, and it will be right in the corner slightly off to your right.
There are see-SoS mobs up there. Con every one of them. And if you dont find any getting to the groundspawn, go back out the same way. I jumped off after I got it, and was going to take the short route back to get out, and ran into a see-SoS static mob facing right towards me. Origin was down at the time, and I was out of gate potions, so I ended up moving back into the arena area, and going to do something else for the 50 mins I needed to wait.

There was a see-SoS up on the wide ledge when I went and from many past experiences it was a common area to have at least one of them see-SoS, but not always. Anyway, I found there is a smaller ledge that you can creep along and hop at the corners to get around behind Thunderclap and was able to completely avoid the see-SoS mob.
Siins not sure why you wouldnt just run by the mob and risk being seen, can always escape after you are clear, I wouldnt have waited 50 mins.
Escape was down too... One of them damned Storms hit me. :/

Its a newb zone, they are used to trains, CHOO CHOO!
Well, the amazing thing to me was that when I zoned in, I checked to see who all was in the zone, and I was the only one there. And nobody entered the zone for the entire hour that I was there. And it was early afternoon.
Maybe thats where all them people came from that are training mobs all over Wall of Slaughter.

I got my piece on the second attempt; no see-SoS mob whatsoever :)
I even said hello to Thunderclap for you guys =)
Thanks for the replies.

They must have added a see through SOS mob as he whacked me too... but i slipped by him my second run, and got it!
i must of got all your see SoS mobs then lol. had 3 when i went to get it, spent an hour working out the pathing enough to slip passed one and stay out of the pathing of the other 2.
Before I noticed other people mention that they encountered see-SoS mobs there (after I picked up my piece), I was unaware of the possibility of such NPCs existing in BoT. I mean, I checked anyway (as I do just about everywhere I go anymore), but there were none for me, nor have there ever been when I've been in the towers (I've done some solo exploration and even corpse dragging up there). /shrug Guess I've just been rediculously lucky with BoT. SRT on the other hand... :banghead

There was an SoS mob on my run too and it was a patroller. I had to wait for him to walk past the arena entrance right and make a break for the left to the ledge. I got it with no problems except for the fact that I stupidly jumped off the ledge...and had to run up the right side where the see SoS mob was. Thank god for SoW and Nimble...
Funny how they slipped this guy in there.
Just more jack assery from SOE I suppose.

BoT has always been a good place to find some see-SoS mobs (at least in my maybe unlucky experiences), pretty sure there wasnt any change. Besides, makes it a little more challenging than just running all over the place invis with no worries or risk. Watch out for them in Mischief as well :)

Wow, in all the times I have done tower raids and the like I have never had any of them see me. I have gotten so used to it, that I don't even con them anymore. Luckily, there were none on my run up there. :)

That was my problem. :banghead
But yeah, it does make it more interesting. I'm just glad they did this in a zone with a GY...if they did for say, the cage in Chardok B...then that would really be unfun. :)

I can without a doubt confirm that the arena area of the lightning tower has always been a good place to find a see-SoS mob. I think all of them patrol up there so you can get around them with some patience. Also you don't have to walk the LONG way around the top arena. There is a narrow ledge you can walk along to get to the platform. This is also one of the best ways to avoid the see SoS guards that may be roaming the area.

I ran into three on my way up.. one was a roamer that went along part of that semi spiral hallway up to the TC perch, one was on that ledge just before the TC perch and one was a static mob on his perch.
Best way i found to get past the roamers is to wait for them to be pathing away from you, and stop, so that they are unable to see past sneak. Stand nearly at their flank(side) and a little to the rear. Face the mob and wait for him to turn around and start pathing back to where you came (need to pay attention well! very short time frame for this next part!) as soon as he turns i Strife so that i'm behind him again, its a small distance, but you have less than a second for the mob to "react". Since there is a small delay on when a mob actually sees you and reacts it gives you some fudge time to get past the roamers.
For the static mobs, if they are looking directly at your path, depending on the situation (where the mob is positioned to where you cannot move around them) you might wanna try to pull them away, or train where you are going and then escape when they are out of aggro range (they will just re-engage if too close after escape). An old trick i used to use before escape was to stand behind a static mob(really close) and quickly unhide hail rehide and they used to turn and give you a chance to go where you want, but things may be different now, still works in seb tho... maybe this helps some.

Definately mobs that see through SoS on the ring path that leads right and around to the platform with Named guy.
However this is np cause you can just go left instead creeping along on the small ledge of the wall all the way to the platform (also shorter this way and no mobs cept named who did not see through sos) you also end up right on the bag you need to pick up :)
edit : reading more carefully above I see someone has mentioned this before hehe
