Old system:>
p4 2.0a
Gigabyte Mobo
512 pc2700 ram running at 266 mhz (all that the board supported)
Radeon 9600
I could run EQwindows, ICQ, and MSN with no problems.
I could also run two EQwindows with minimal slowdown, provided I ran no other programs.
New System:
p4 2.8b
Asus P4S533-MX Mobo
512 pc2700 ram runnning at 333 mhz (at least, i think it is)
Radeon 9600
Now I can run EQwindows, or two copies of EQwindows fine. I can run EQwindows with MSN fine. With MSN and ICQ and I get jerky video movements in certain areas (PoV walking towards outer cave enterence from directly in front of it = no lag, walking away = lag)
Is there any reason why updating my system should make it run worse? The mobo was pretty cheap, but still, this is really stupid. I don't understand why ICQ, which uses way less memory then EQ, makes EQ slow down while a second instance of EQ doesn't.
