I want to have a Gun on my rogue for pulling and just general coolness. I'm taking engineering as my profession so it's yet another plus.
Anyway. I know there is a gun trainer in Thunderbluff but I don't know that I'll be able to visit that person being that I'm a gnome. Where is the Alliance Gun Trainer?

If i recall with my gnome rogue it was in Ironforge where I got trained in the gun skill. Just ask a friendly guard to point ya to the trainer. :)

Ironforge, Military Ward, the building across and just to the right coming from the great forge.

Thanks guys...
Any level req?
Level req based on race IIRC, but I would think a gnome would be able to by at least 10.

My Human Rogue learned it earlier than that. It just costs 10 silver.
Just as a note-
Human Weaponmaster is currently in a sword shop in the cul-de-sac straight ahead as you enter into Stormwind.
He'll teach swords and crossbows to Rogues.
Dwarven Weaponmaster is in the Military Ward, standing near the middle of the open area.
He'll teach guns and maces.
Elven Weaponmaster is in the main city, but I can't remember where specifically.
She teaches Bows and Fist weapons.
Each costs 10 silver.
Elves cannot learn to use guns.
Gnomes cannot learn to use bows.

just to make a point clear - elven ROGUES can't use guns, but those who are hunters can. and in fact, it's pretty silly not to, since there aren't enough bows available in game and you can't even craft them yet.

Yes, I'm only speaking of Rogues.

A word of warning regarding Guns: You lose a bag slot to equip an ammo pouch. If you are like me and constantly having inventory space issues, Guns/Bows are not a really viable option.
Throwing Axes/Knives are much better, anyway. :)
Not like I go through that much ammo or need that much firing speed though. I keep 400 rounds in my inventory and it draws them as needed to fill the 200 in the character inventory. I'll probably head back to knives later for aesthetics, but its fun for now, and great to nail a running mage in pvp with one.

Hmm, I haven't tried it but I noticed that there is an ammo slot on the character screen last night. Can you just stick your ammo there like equipment and forego the bag?
I should try that but...meh...lazy.
EDIT: Nope...just shows how much you have total. Damn.

You don't have to equip an ammo pouch or quiver, but having those items equipped, and your ammo in them, gives a bonus to weapon speed.
hmm.
During closed beta, i had a crossbow, and i just tossed the arrows in my regular bag and put a stack of them in my ammo slot in my charecter window. That worked out fine; i didn't have to have a quiver. Did you stick a stack in your ammo slot?
Unless they changed things. When servers come back up and stuff i can check on my closed beta rogue.
On PvE i am never able to get off more then one or two shots before the mob is too close to me, anyways. I just used it for pulls. I guess its different on PvP, but since rogues are mostly used for close combat on PvE, the bonus of having haste for ammo is not worth losing a bag.

I'm kind of curious about this: Is there any class that can use guns as its main form of fighting? Some sort of fighter specializing in muskets? A "musketeer," if you will?

yes. Hunters use ranged weapons as their primary means of damage. (along with having a pet.) They have many spells and abilities and Talents that are focused on improving ranged damage and doing special ranged combat attacks.

Tauren, Dwarf, and Gnome Hunters all start with guns. I'm not sure if any other race does, but I'm pretty sure it's bows for Orc, Troll, Undead, Human, and Elf

Get one of those swank Krag Boars as a pet.
Where can I find or buy a good gun in elven territory around lvl 20 or so.

Ask an Engineer to make one for you or visit Ironforge to check the Auction House.

Well then starting with guns is right out for them then isn't it.
I am an elf rogue and just trained guns last night.
Didn't seem to have any problems learning the skill. Haven't tried to use it yet but I don't see why it would let me learn it if I was not allowed to use it.

you can use it if you train it, but not as a base skill. that's what I'd meant in my first post.
but yeah, I don't think NE hunters start out with the gun skill as a base either. but it's to their advantage to learn it, because of the serious lack of bows in the game.

Legna- May be something they added. Originally elves couldn't train in it.

Played a dwarf hunter for a while, they start wth guns right away.
Then good news for us elves. :p
Wasn't trying to sound snooty. I was just running around training every weapon I could find, then raising skill. I just remembered getting guns. :)

NE hunters can train in guns (in ironforge) as of the open beta.
The only class that CAN'T train in range weopons are palidans. Hunters and another class I can't remember get to specialize in guns. The special differance being they get to auto fire the weopon, while we must press the button each time we (non-hunters) want to fire the gun.
I took up leatherworking and made myself a ammo pouch, but stopped using it. I needed the extra space for inventory items, plus I almost never was able to get off two shots even with ammo-pouch. I did find that sometimes I'd get a crit when pulling and it really helps when they get too you with 1/3 thier hp gone.
On another note, I will be going herbalism/alchemy instead of leatherworking. Doing this after I found out certain poisons require certain plants that you need either herbalism to gather it or lots of money to buy it.

How are the crossbows? o-o
I only used throwing daggers on my rogue during open beta, but I think I may switch to crossbows simply because they sound cool XD.

:)
or just find a friend who does herbalism and ask them to set some fadeleaf and swiftthistle aside for you, in exchange for giving them other goodies. That's what i plan to do. When i did herbalism in closed beta, i had swiftthistle and fade leaf coming out my ears, and my local alchemist barely used all that i had collected.
those are the only two herbalism gathered items that you'll need for Rogue poisons and abilities.
Crossbows start dropping in the game off of mobs level 20 and above, pretty much. So plan to stick with throwing knives, guns, or regular bow until you get lucky with a drop. Since all the servers are starting out brand new, its going to be at least a month before you'll start seeing crossbows in the Auction house, if open beta was any indication regarding how long it took for higher level weapons to make it to Auction House.
In the late part of the Open beta, they increased the drops of Crossbows in the game, as well as adding them for sale by the Weapons vendors. You can find them for sale on the Bow/Crossbow weapon vendor in Ironforge in the Military ward in the Hunting supply store. (the guns vendor is on one floor of the shop, the Bows vendor is on the other floor of the same shop.)
There's a vendor in Stormwind, too. I'm thinking it was in Old Town that i saw it, but might have been the Trade district. Same sort of thing, it was a Hunting or Archery specific shop. There might be one in Darnassus, and very likely to be similar stores in big cities on the Horde side.
The crossbows sold by vendors rarely have extra stats on them (no agility or stamina). And they are relatively expensive, though fun to have. They do more damage per shot then throwing knives do. The tradeoff is that they are slower then comparable bows, though.
Generally, though, in PvE combat, you'll be lucky to get more then two shots off on the mob before the mob is in your face. PvP might be different. But rogues in general are a lot more effective with their close melee then with any sort of ranged item. No need for a rogue to waste a bag slot on a Quiver, just toss a stack of arrows in your ammo slot.

Does anyone know if the Crossbow is any better than the Bow or Gun?
Like longer range or more damage cheaper ammo.
As for me I will stick with throwing Daggers for just pulling and I bugged the fact that quivers and ammo pouches add to the ranged attack of anyone that uses them they should allow thrown weapons to be used while moving
Arrows vs Ammo costs are basically the same. The nice thing about Guns is that you can have an Engineer make better ammo for you. (more damage for the level you can use the ammo at.)
Since i'll be a gnome, i'm staying with Thrown until i can score a crossbow. I just never felt right holding a gun during beta. :)
here is a list of the Crossbows found in game during Beta. Note that they added several crossbows at the very end of Beta, so this isn't a full list of what's in the game now, most likely. But it will give you an idea of stats, damage, and delay. There are almost certainly more regular Bows and Guns in the game then crossbows, though.

heh. well, edit to the above post where i said gnomes couldn't train bows. They changed it! i checked the Weapons Trainer in Darnassus today with my Gnome rogue girlie. I could train Bows!

After I downed a fleeing mage with a thrown dagger to the back, and the warm fuzzy feeling I got inside, I'm going to stick with throwing.
i have been told you can run / shoot with a gun or crossbow .. which you can not with daggers ..
can anyone verify the truth to the run / shoot ??

Cannot run and shoot with a gun. I've yet to try crossbows.
You must come to a complete stop before firing off any ranged weapon (crossbows, bows, guns, throwing daggers/axes)
Cross bows are fun, I bought one with my rogue at lvl 15 I think it was. Only problem is they are graphically bugged at the moment. All races hold the cross bow with it pointing strait down at the ground, but it still shoots at what you target and the sound is cool :)
