If I put a bid on an item it takes the money out of my inventory. If I win the auction, how do I know I won it? And if I lost, how do I get my money back? Sorry for the noob questions, but I didn't see anywhere where it had this information.

Either the item or your money arrives back in your mailbox. I believe the $ comes as soon as you've been outbid, even if the auction isn't over yet.
money is returned if you are outbid by another person.
the item is given if you reach the buyout stage if there is one,or when the timer on the auction ends.
and you'll get a message when an auction ends and you've won the item.
it'll appear in text up at the top of the screen, just like when you get a "not enough energy" message or whatever.
