Anyone doing the fishing skill currently?
In earlier phases I found you could catch some quest and item gossip if you went to a popular fishing spot.
If you're Horde, the pool at Thunderbluff is usually being fished. I would sometimes get a crowd in the indoor pool in Ironforge if you are Alliance, but that one's kinda rare. Nice one about that one though is that I was able to cook my fish using the brazier nearest to the cavern pool (I haven't done it in awhile so they might have "fixed" it).

Interestingly, my Tauren shaman was also the one that took to fishing (near Thunder Bluff, which was more or less empty).
As i am on a RP server, i thanked the female Tauren that helped me find fisher supplies, etc and fished few minutes next to me with:
"Thank you young cow!"
Which sorta killed the further discussion...
I took up fishing so I could feed my hungry pet, however the picky bastage won't eat fish. :( That's what I get for having a spider pet, I guess. I thought it was interesting in the short time I did it, though, plus I fished up a pair of boots that was better than what I was wearing. Not too shabby, and better than the sandals in EQ.
Currently I'm doing skinning and leatherworking. The noob fields are like all-you-can-eat buffets to me now - nobody is skinning anything. :heart
I achieved 150 skill in fishing and I have yet to find a expert fishing trainer as a night elf. If anyone knows the location of such a trainer please Help :).
Anyone know if fishing is a good skill to master? any benefits besides just catching fish to eat?

For all you rogue fishermen/cooks out there...
Around skill 275-290 in fishing and cooking you can learn to make Grilled Squid. This food is +10 Agility for 10 minute...and it STACKS with other stat food and with Agility potions.
Of course, the recipe is 2g. :)

I kinda like fishing with various characters. Yeah, the spot in Org is a popular one (rest + fishing is nice) but I tend to hang out in the Barrens to feed my Deviate Fish addiction. On my Hunter I always fish to feed my hungry little crab as well as skill up cooking. For my Rogue it is more of a change of pace from wreaking havoc. I do wish fishing poles were one-handed though ><

Yea, the pool in the cave in Ironforge can get crowded, so I go to the one next to it outside the Paladin Guild.
I fish primarily to feed my pet, who is a bear, and really enjoys fish. Could just be wishful thinking, but it seems that I need to feed him alot less often when I give him fish instead of meat.
For some reason, fishing has a very hypnotic effect on me.
