View Full Version : Maple Harvesting in Qeynos

Where can I harvest maple in Qeynos? I got a quest from my wholesaler and even though you can change out the quest, he just gives me the same one...so I have to find maple and all I can find is elm~

I found a "maple" looked like a leaf when I was harvesting off "a natural garden" in the newbie woods sooo...maybe that way? did it say Maple? or Maple wood?
I haven't tried it in Antonica as my skills are not high enough for there, messed up while on the Island. I should have worked on the skills there.
You can work on your skills in most of the newbie adventure areas around the city. It's just a pain right now because, at least on my server, any zone instance seems to have a dozen people running around trying to gather components at any one time.
And you can't delete those %^#%$ quests either. I'm obsessive compulsive and hat having that quest I'll never bother with linger in my journal. I accepted a work order not knowing what it was, and now I'm stuck with it, the delete key is greyed out, and I can't find electrum anywhere, if it's in the Commonlands then my mining skill is too low... bleagh!^$%#

Yeah, I tried deleting it too. I did one other one, root gathering, and that wasn't too bad. Like I said, if you go back to the guy he'll give you a different one (or he says he will) but he just gives me the same one. I don't mind the gathering, just be nice if I knew where maple was. It's something like gather 15 severed maple so I assumed it would be a tree. (Since elm is severed elm). But I'll start checking the herb gardens too.

sorry I don't remember if it said "severed maple" or just "maple" but I do belive it was off a "natural garden". I also got "severed elm" off a log. I logged back on to look but I guess I destroyed it to make room in my bags as it was "no value" and I wanted to pick up the leggings I found.
Maple is a teir2 item, so it will come from antonica, you need skill of 40+ to be able to get it. So run around with the 1000 other people in the newbie grounds until you have the required skill level.
As of now, after 2 days of gathering I have 60+ fishing, and 100+ gathering. With mining and wood gathering below 30. There always seems to be lots of fish to get, but not much wood or ore.
Today's patch notes indicate that they are spawning more stuff to help meet the needs of the gatherer's. A guildmate didn't notice an increase in spawns but had more skill increases in 30 minutes then we've both had over the last 2 days.
So things are looking up. Another 5 hours and I'll be able to check it out during primetime.
Sounds like a good fix. They can then tone it back once the initial flood ebbs.

Research indicates that electrum comes from antonica or the commonlands, and requires 40+ skill to access. It should come from the "stone" piles not the "ore" piles.
Ah. Thanks for the tip cuular. I'm not much for tradeskills, but I want to get this one off of the books. Back to Graveyard or something to get that mining skill up.

After reading thru many posts both here and on other boards, I decided to start from the beginning again and get my Scout <Rogue>'s gathering/harvesting skills up B4 I left the Island.
It seemed that there was more to work with there and the respawn times seemed faster. I have actually seen a log camped in one of the newbie zones in Qeynos. It was funny I went up to a log and the guy said Hey thats my log.
Does anyone know what the skill lvl maxes out on the island?
AND does anyone know HOW to get the trade skills to work there? I bought one of the Artisan Books and went to the cellar to try some out, or at least see what i needed to gather/harvest and the only ones that showed were brewing ones. Tea and Coffee if I remember correctly.
I can make the tin bars and spikes but the other trade skill items don't show anything. There are some recipes for...oh say rawhide strips...in the book but I tried the sewing <loom> station and it did not show.
Any Clues?
Did you scribe the recipe books that you bought off of the vendor? What is your artisan level?
I know that after I did the basement quest I made one tin bar and it was enough for me to get artisan level 4, which opened up most of those things.

I've gotten up to a 6th level artisan on the island. I was assuming it would probably be capped there, like regular leveling, but I'm guessing it can go a little higher, since I've seen someone with tin rapiers on the island and it takes a 7 or 8 just to scribe the book.
I'm starting to feel like Gilligan trapped on the island because I dont want to leave until I've exploited every possibility there. Backpacks were the most ambitious thing i've made so far. I may try to struggle through and get up to those rapiers people have been taunting me with though. :)

I LOVE YOU PEEBS...I tried to scribe b4 and it didnt work so I was thinking that MAYBE that was a WAY to ADD receips..but went back, made another tin spike and poof I was able to scribe the book and now Im gtg

I have recently done Betrayal ( Qeynos to Freeport) notice that in commons Maples is all over the place skill foresting. Cannot find elm anywhere but newb zones. If I remember right I got alot of Elm in antonica.
