View Full Version : Haste, Weapon Speeds

I have not yet seen anything that gives a robust explaination for weapon speeds. Factors such as minimum delay with haste, values for any haste (such as what a scout-bard can have when singing haste songs) and such.

Also still a question is whether the speeds of your dual weilded wapons impacts your effectivness (I.E. do you need the faster one in primary, is it more optimal when both are the same, etc., etc,. etc.)

Does anyone have any inormation yet?

As far as dual wielding goes, each hand is completely independant. This is confirmed by the devs. You can have either weapon in either hand and should dish out the same damage regardless.

Delay is measured in seconds so dps should be easy to calculate.

Dual wielders tend to hit comparatively very light, they just hit very fast. According to the devs dual wielding should be more damaging than one handed weapons and on par (over time) with two handers of equivalent types. However this is all controled by weapon stats so I imagine there are probably going to be some unbalanced weapons or combinations out there.

There is currently no conclusive evidence on how fast certain hastes are.

Independant damage factors is good but what about primary/offhand delays and impact on DW?

For example, if you had say... a 1.5 delay weapon in primary and a 1.2 delay in secondary:

Are we saying that they both fire off as often as possible or will the additional delay of the primary hand lead to delays in the secondary hand firing off?

If they are truly independant then in a long fight the faster offhand weapons could effectivly "lap" the slower primary weapon and essentially be firing off first.

(No, I'm not trying to be obtuse heh. Just trying hard to make no assumptions about how anything works now -grin- )

I did hear gossip about there being a minimum delay of 1 and having haste on fast weapons like a 1.2 delay weapon gives far less benefit from haste than using a 2.2 with comparable dps. No second source confirmation or official word though.

I started a post about this on

thescoutssancutary.com which seem to be the busiest rogue/ranger forums but no hard evidence has come forward. Site is down today ro I would post a link.

The devs have said more than once (wish I could find a link) that they are completely independant. There is no association of delay between main hand and off hand. Both swing independantly on their own delays. The explanation given was that this allowed them to balance dual wielding with two-handers easily. The intent being that sets of dual-wield vs. an "equally matched" two-hander would result in the same dps over time, just a different delivery.
