I've heard from a few people in game, it can really suck, especially in battle. You will stall in activating your abilities alot, is what I heard.

I was on dialup for a while recently because the company I had internet though was having major issues...and dialup wasn't too bad. I had broadband previously (3mbps) and I was suprised at how much it didn't lag vs how much I expected it to lag. Sure, it's a little annoying on the HO's and such, but it's playable.
I just played on dial up last night and it was fine, HOWEVER I was only on the newbie island.

I am waiting paitently for DSL to be run down my road out here in the sticks...looking at about 3 to 6 more weeks before it does...so for the last 4 years of EQ and now EQ2 I have been on dial up and as long as you have a decent processor/videocard/RAM combo it isn't too bad.

I play EverQuest II on a somewhat dial-up connection. A cellphone! That's right. It's better in one way and worse in just about every other. It's about the speed of an ISDN line, however, as you can expect the ping is far worse, with an average at 400 to 500 and anywhere from a low of 350 to 2000!
It works though... and pretty well with EverQuest II. I would say a typical land-line modem would work just fine.
