Is this widespread, or is my server just special? There are several people buying the vendor sold tradeskill books the same level as the rare dropped ones and putting them up for sale on the broker system for 1 gold or more.

The obvious intent is for people to buy the vendor book thinking it's the rare. I almost got caught by it the first time, since the book IS super rare and I've only seen it on the broker once. Luckily I paused before buying it to make sure it had the adept 3 spell I wanted to scribe and when I examined realized it was the wrong book.

By the way, the GM answer when you report this as attempted fraud is the typical SOE line, "We can't take action against someone for setting a high price on a common item."

And I agree with the GM. People can sell things for whatever they choose to sell them at, and there's nothing wrong with it. Yes, the intent of someone doing what you describe is obvious, but it's your job as the consumer not to be swindled, imo. I don't personally believe this is widespread, but I've heard of it being done before. If one gold piece were consequential to me, you can be cerain I would be very scrupulous before clicking anything -- the same as I am when someone opens a trade window with me.

I've noticed there are a few people on Unrest that buy house pets from the merchant in South Qeynos, and then put them up for sale for about 1gp more than the original cost. I also see a lot of people selling Tier 1 "?" forages (butterflies and shattered bone fragments mostly) for 1gp+. *shrug*

No. WoW sounds like it might be more fun, but EQ2 is still alright. Not like I'm gonna waste the money I spent on it.

Buyer Beware...I won't run that little scam but if somebody can't bother to read what they are buying and make sure of what it is then they deserve to lose the cash. A fool and his money are soon parted...
