Make sure it really is a .scr file. I've gotten .exe attachments that were called "attachment.doc" to make you open them and run the file.

Best thing to do is send paypal a message. Check their website and find out the right addy (it may be spoof@paypal.com but I could be wrong). I got a fake email from someone about paypal a few months ago and paypal CS got back to me within a matter of hours I think.

Whether it really is a scr or not, Paypal isn't going to send you a screensaver. Delete and move on.

If you're really worried, log in to their website (by typing in paypal.com, not following links from the email) and look through your account records. If there's anything wrong it should be posted there too.

A huge percentage of .scr that come via unsolicited emails are viruses!!!

NO paypal does not send stuff like that ever.

.scr is treated just like an execueable by Windows. Don't run it!

had a friend get an email from microsoft it was friggin scary how real that thing looked, I was in doubt about it but it was so well done I couldnt say for sure so he called microsoft...fake fo sho.

if you have no reason to believe the file is real then its fake, if it was real and important you will get confirmation at some point, if it was fake you will never hear from them again (yeah the next step to email virus scams will be the confirmation email (why didnt you recieve our last email? please confirm your winnings!!!)
