during the downtime for the patch this morning i checked out the rankings on the station page, upon seeing the list of the wealthiest players something interesting stood out: of the top 5 wealthiest players, 4 of them are under the level 30, and unguilded.

logically there are only really two explanations for this, 1) cheating, or 2)they are a trader mule.

However, the fact that they are unguilded, and the money is staying with them leads me to think they arent being used as mules. As a rule i stay away from the official boards, so i'm not sure if its a known issue or not - but if someone in the know could clear this up for me, it would be much appreciated =]

I don't pay for SOE's horrible site anymore, so I can't check, but does it say their crafting level? They might devote the majority of their time to a tradeskill to produce their income. I'd sooner shove bamboo splinters under my nails than craft, so I really don't know how profitable it can become.

i'm one of those that use a trader mule. as an extremely casual player, never guilded 22 brigand/28 carpenter with assorted alts to do various combines that i can't or couldn't, i'm a far way from wealthy. during what little time i actually spend in game productively, i would prefer to do quests than worry about levels, loot, or crafting unless i feel like it. (only 1500 more orcs for slayer title, heh) my trader right now is a level 6 fighter, level 3 artisan, same account. she basically got her citizenship and set up shop. i'm not in a high paying tradeskill as nothing i make is really needed besides bank boxes and there's enough higher level carpenters to feed the whole server plenty of those. however, at the moment, my little trader has sales well over 9p which i think is probably a small fortune for any adventurer my level. usually, she has over 100 items for sale ranging anywhere from pristine rares to leftover gathering stuffs plus i have maxed out her room's capacity in items several times. i don't have room for any of that stuff on my main char or in my main's bank. she doesn't have much cash on her now since i just bought another dragon and a hellhound puppy but most of what she does make stays with her until i absolutely have to have it. fact is, it's much easier to transfer items in the shared bank or by just dropping it off in her room than it is to transfer cash which, until lately with the new mail system, involved needing to transfer the coin to another person or another account first. those crafters that had either higher need, such as alchemists did previously, and those that had stayed ahead of the others in levels, thereby being amongst the first to offer products, could have easily become quite wealthy if that's what they wanted to do.

that's only my reasons for why my trader mule has almost all my cash. that's not to say the cheaters aren't there. if anyone is to draw suspicion as a cheater, it should be the person(s) that rise unnaturally quick through the ranks of wealth, not those that earned their way there and remain week after week. i don't pay for the site either so i'm just presuming that you can tell that from their lists if you wanted to track it.

edit: oops, wrong sig for eq2 forums.

Macroing tradeskillers(alchemists) is your most likely answer, mules also very possible. Cheating/duping is a long shot with the amount of records and information they keep on players.

One of the low level unguilded Top wealthiest are mine.

My trader mule remains unguilded as do almost everyones mules in our guild.

So it is more then plausable that they are fully legit. Of course I am sure a few are not.

I have been following this issue very closely. If you were to venture over to SOE forums and look at the server section you find many threads about this topic. to many for me to link in fact but I will explain it in a nutshell. BOTS and many of them. The game has been corrupted by BOTS who farm plat and items for the companies that sell them over the nets. The community is up in arms about why nothing is being done about the obvious violations of the EULA. :crazy I have witnessed these BOTS in action on my server. When you wonder into a zone they are farming it looks like someone has been clear cutting. Only instead of trees it's mobs. :banghead They have completely screwed up all the server stats on every server making that comepetitive portion of the game worthless. Also making many game firsts to add to the screwed up stats. :angry

BTW 9 out 10 BOT'rs agree a Guard and 5 warlocks is the teh win!!!

Don't get caught using super jump or speed hack though. To the gallows with ya!

yeah, on AB i finally saw the bots in action. 4 erudite wizards with jibberish names such as "cwrdasdf" and "treasures". Anywho, when i saw them cast it was similar to seige tanks in Starcraft, swiveling around to fire simultaneously.

If you play on AB, and see a character named "treasures" feel free to send them a few abusive tells.

You would think with just a few live GMs running around they could catch this stuff easily. i mean its kinda obvious ..

You are assuming that its not a SOE subsidiary doing the botting.

I don't think they are THAT evil are they?

Rumors in game and on the boards are that SOE dropped the hammer on a large number of BOT'rs over the past 2 days and temporarily shut down all companies who are selling items, characters, and plat over the net.

Both bot teams that I know of on Kithikor haven't been seen in over two weeks, so something happened for sure.

Well I found out something VERY interesting....I've been BANNED :blink

I haven't played EQII in like 2-3 months and I was checking out my account information and found that my account was banned for having too much cash for my lvls.

A RL friend of mine had an EQII account and decided to cancel it. He had a Trade Skill alt that had made lots of money so when he decided to play WoW only he gave me all his cash...2 plat. So now I am banned for a few months I guess :frown There is no indication as to how long the ban is...it just says my account is banned.

I'm Banned and I'm finding it rather funny...annoying yet funny. I have noticed that they have not Stopped billing my credit card for my account tho.

Well, are you sure your friend wasn't farming? hahaha.

But i bet if you point out it was a gift and not a cheat, they'll reinstate you.

this is SOE at its finest: banning a customer "for having too much money for their level" and still charging their monthly fee.

Shows the true colors of the company.

Don't bother with clarifications. With such behaviour towards customers, just drop them (forever). Don't bother with entering the game either to "give away your stuff": that might ban another player only... :pulid

I find the fact that you have been banned for too much money for your level less then believable. I have a level 6 mule on a completely seperate account that carries all my cash, 75+ plat on that toon and it has not been banned.

Sorry that sounds about as absurd as it comes, If you were you need to call customer service.
