All four of mine are like that, except theyre about half a centimeter in my gums and angled harder into the next tooth. Perfectly sideways in my head

You can have one of mine, that'd make 8 between the two of us.

I've just been told that my top two wisdom teeth (Which were removed 10 years ago) have decided to move back into my mouth.

And impacted wisdom teeth suck.

Just thinking about that makes me want the gas.

Looks almost like my wisdom teeth were. Mine were coming in at a 45 degree angle, had to have them "cut" out.

Crappy Caowyth, you getting them removed? Who's your oral surgeon/dentist?

If you got that removed, wouldn't you have a gigantic hole in your mouth? Isn't that a slight problem?

Just got back to the dentist myself.

All of my wisdom teeth came in perfect, but right now they say 2 of them have cavitys that might go down to the root. They've given me the option of going with a root canal, or having them removed, of course the thing with that is if i have the two removed (opsosite sides of the mouth, i'll have to have the two others removed)

Sooo the question is, if you had the choice 2 root canals (possibly) or 4 teeth pulled. I've never had a tooth pulled so i'm not sure what the experience wiould be like. Tell me which one hurts less

Btw, i hate dentists arrrgh

Mine weren't bad comin out. IV sedative, (not unconsious but no memory if the situation). Pain for a few hours. Only took a single asprin 3 or codine or whatever they gave me. No complications.

If yours aren't impacted, it shouldn't hurt much to have them pulled.

Love the jpg title

Ah, I had a pair that looked something like that on X-Ray once but got all four yanked before my insurance expired. Get gassed if you can though, friends who have stayed awake through the procedure seemed to regret it. Celeris Tujimson

All 4 of my wisdom teeth looked like that... I was having massive headaches, couldn't figure out why... on a trip to a new dentist they did a new X-ray and voila. Got knocked out and had them all extracted... they had some issues with a couple and had to hack them to pieces with a little chisel to get them out. Months later, I started having mouth pain, went back to the doc... they had missed several pieces which were working their way out of my gums. Got local and they pulled the pieces out one at a time... it made me glad I had been knocked out for the first real extraction.

So anyways, have fun!!

The procedure really is no big deal as long as you make sure you get put under, and the surgeon is good.

I just had mine taken out less than a month ago and it was no big deal (1 impacted, 1 crooked, 2 normal) The first day sucked, but only because I was pretty dopd up and numb. Once the novacain wore I was a tiny bit tender but that was it.

And yes you do have big holes back there, which will fill in in a month or two. Ive got this great little plastic syringe I carry with me for whenever I eat, Stick it back in there CAREFULLY (if you poke the blood clot/nerve it will hurt) and spray some water to shove all the food out.

The impacted one was a little sorer than the others, but it healed the best. I wish they had used the same techique on all 4. They sort of cut the @#%$ away, then removed it, then pulled the gum back over and stitched it up. Its completely healed and theres no food hole (theres a piece of bacon stuck in the food hole right now btw, so Im gonna take off to handle it)

Poor Jhani.

Mine were the same way. All four. The surgery is easy... out cold. If your fortunate, recovery should be brief. The only thing that sucked for me was I found codeine absolutely unbearable so I lived with the throbbing pain for a couple of days.

When are your wisdom teeth sposed to start causing problems/needed to be taken out? I'm 20, and I'm not seeing anything yet.

EDIT: Sig removed. Please reduce to < 15k. -Wraine Edited by: Wraine at: 10/8/03 4:48 pm

They said they only could see 3 on my x-rays, and that's all they pulled - hopefully they don't find #4 down in my appendix or something (Back In Black)

It's quite possible that they will never give you problems. In the instances mentioned above they start to crowd the rest of your teeth and cause problems with your bite. I think I was like 19 when I had mine removed.

Edit: and in my case, the dentist discovered them via xrays long before I knew they were there. Edited by: Nocte at: 10/8/03 9:13 am

What makes a tooth 'impacted'? I've never heard of that.

I only had 3 wisdom teeth, had the odd one taken out in Boot Camp once, still have the other 2.

I know one guy who had a root of his wisdom tooth go down and hook around his jaw bone. He was out of duty for a week from having it removed.

Simple evolution. Our jaws are getting smaller, while our old herbivore teeth still haven't stopped coming in. They grow in sideways because the tooth surface from which they develop is now part of the jaw that pitches up to the "hinge." That's the way the dentist explained it to me anyway.

Weird stuff like the whole appendix thing.

Ciba- My surgeon is Dr. Crinzi in Redmond. I'll probably get them removed.... again.

According to xrays, I only have two, and they are on the top.

A tip for anyone who gets them cut out and ends up with the big holes in their cheeks. You will get the plastic syringe someone mentioned earlier which you use salted water to clean food out.

DO NOT EAT GROUND BEEF. Cleaning ground beef out of your sockets with that syringe is the nastiest thing I have ever done.
