View Full Version : Why didn't you just close up shop two years ago?

Because you know, the same jokes for four years can get pretty boring. Sigh, and I used to love Sinfest.
And don't start mentioning some comics have pulled it off, I know that. Fact* is, Sinfest hasn't. It's boring now
* as in personal opinion

I agree, but I'm not really complaining. Fact is, I have too many comics to read already.
Sluggy Freelance has the same problem. Its just the same stuff over and over but it used to be SO badass.
Real Life isn't very interesting anymore either.
Oh well, at least PvP, 8-bit Theater and Penny Arcade are still rocking the cazbah. "Classes are not that out of balance -AbsorEQ"

I just got through the whole run of Sluggy Freelance, and it's entertaining, but not 'pee my pants' funny most of the time - what it needs to make more jokes about NJ, that only those of us that live in the state understand, again.
I like Kevin & Kell, Clan of the Cats, Angst Technology (on hiatus dammit), PvP, 8-Bit Theater...
And of course The Safehouse sponsored /gu and WTF usually give me a good chuckle, cause I'm still one of those crazy people that post here that still plays EQ.
You can keep Penny Arcade, I don't usually get the gags anyway. (Back In Black)
Delissandra Splitshadow - Veteran Deceiver of the Circle of Unseen Hands
Grandmaster Poisoner (250), Master Potter (191), Grandmaster Lush (200)
Cause I'm back on the track
And I'm beatin' the flack
Nobody's gonna get me on another rap

I've been checking Twelve Dragons kinda alot lately, the story seems pretty interesting thusfar. Not quite anything else i've seen as far as webcomics go.
Sluggy's been going downhill since Fire and Rain if you ask me, they need to bring Oasis back.

See, I just never found SinFest to be that funny to begin with. :P
Sluggy Freelance is by far my favorite. It has this magical thing called "plot". The only problems I've really had lately is that Pete hasn't really done much to advance any of the dangling plotlines. Oh, and he's letting a no-talent jackass write the Saturday comics, and completely @#%$ up the Dimension of Pain.
PvP stopped being funny ages ago, I only read it out of habit. I stopped after they completely ripped off Real Life.
PA and 8-Bit are still awesome.

Thats actually the same guy that does Bruno the Bandit, who's work in that comic was apparently good enough that a few of his strips appeared in issues of Knights of the Dinner Table.
That said, he still sucks.
Penny Arcade is plain and simple the funniest comic on the web. Yeah, sometimes you have to read the news posts to get the gags, but those are usually funny as hell too. They have a rare gift for dialogue. "Classes are not that out of balance -AbsorEQ"

Quick question to the PA junkies - when they have a new comic up, do you read the news post first, or the comic first? Reading the news post sorta ruins some of the fun of the comic if you were in a position to get the gag in the first place, but reading the comic first sorta ruins it if you don't get the gag...
I, Elerion, read the comic first. And sometimes get the gag <center><img src="http://www.elerion.net/pics/enthfiresiglq.jpg"><font size=-2>

I read the comic first as well. I actually do tend to get the joke, too, but even if I do, I like to read the news article. PA is sheer unadulterated goodness. I also stopped enjoying PVP a while ago. It got monotonous and uncreative. As for Sluggy, I still worship the comic, but I haven't checked it in months. Saving up, I guess. I still check wtfcomics often and gucomics sporadically. I think Woody's losing his funny, but damn, his art is GOOD.

I read the comic first, and 99% of the time I get it right away, if I don't then I go and read the news.. and then I get it.. and it just won't be as funny to me But even if I do get it then I go read the news anyway. ~

I read the comic but not the newspost unless I'm confused as all hell.
For good webcomics: www.dominic-deegan.com is quite good. Fantasy story line, decent art, nice comedy bits here and there, and 6 updates a week.

I mostly just read the resurgent Achewood (which, yes, was dire for a while when it was the Ray and Roastbeef show, but rocks again now), the always gorgeous and entertaining Scary-Go-Round and the brilliant and literate Cat and Girl these days. Comics I've stopped reading due to craptacularness include PvP, Something Positive, Diesel Sweeties and Sluggy.
