I'm 29 years old right now, and nowhere near the position that someone only 3 years older just got in my company. Here's the press release...
I musta been in the can when opportunity knocked...

maybe you didn't walk the right path to find opprotunity?
I'm not here to judge your life, only to open your eyes to your own. what have you done in the past to make success more likely? what do you do every day to make people notice that you are not just another worker?
oprotunity doesn't knock if the lights are off and the doormat says 'Not Welcome'. Brelkor the Blackhammer, The Masta Back Stabba, retired rogue

The sage himself never strives for the great, and thereby the great is achieved.
Lao-Tzu
I don't think I've fully grasped the meaning but it sounds about right for this post.

It's hard to hear opportunity knocking when you're so wrapped up with the little things that annoy you.

Eh, I think my major job dissatisfaction is because I've finally realized after six years that the carrot they dangle in front of your face at this firm is completely illusory - they expect you to put forth more effort and then they whip the football out from under you ala Lucy from 'Peanuts'...
"Oh, you've put forth all this effort, you'll get a great raise this year" -YOINK! - we aren't giving raises for the fourth year in a row, but you're going to have to pay more for your health insurance out of your own pocket.
Ah well, time to move on and do something I will love to wake up in the morning to go do - but I'm continually running into the problem of being a 'jack of all trades, master of none' and not knowing what it is I actually can make money doing and have fufillment at the same time. You know, the imaginary 'dream job'...
And Nimm... stfu, k? I'm not so wrapped up with the little things that annoy me - I post them here so I can free myself of thinking about them...maybe get someone's view on it. This forum is cathartic for me.
I personally think you should pack everything up and join the carni, just think of it. You open road, and a bunch of wierd people that operate unsafe rides and sell unsafe food. Whats more to ask for in life?

Well, too clumsy to be up on stilts as the World's Tallest Woman, so best I could do would be to apply for the Bearded Woman job...

I understand being "wrapped up in the little things" when I am in the can.
I have no idea what that means, but I will let you all twist it how you will.
Hmmmmm...
Midgets in Lederhosen...

I think modesty and humility are good traits, but in Corporate America this philosophy doesn't hold up. You need to toot your horn, make yourself visable and network to get that promotion.
