Damnit, I quit EQ, im sure of it. I sold my guy, said my goodbyes to my closest friends (I missed a few when I said my goodbyes, don't take offence)

Now around the time I left my bro started playing again, it's no secret my bro is a huge EQ adict, in a matter of months he made it to 65, got elemental flagged, and joined a top guild.

Now he wants me to come back damnit, I noticed evolutions in stores for only $30, he has offered to bribe me with all the uberest gear my little heart could fathom.

Im so conflicted, I quit because I did not have enough at the time to keep playing, now I do, I did not have enough cash, now I do. I can't take it
STOP TEMPTING ME!

I played EQ for close to 3 years straight when it first came out. Got my Cleric to 54, when Hell Levels existed. Just couldn't take the grind anymore. Quit just after they added Luclin and the new Kitty Race.

Have been tempted now and again to run out and get that consolidated set along with LDoN. Just don't know if I want to get sucked up into the maelstrom again. Don't think I can effectively budget my time between EQ and DAoC (yes, I am still enjoying DaoC). So far, temptations have been resisted.

I'm living happily without EQ and my life is 20x more social than it was last year when I played EQ. Those two don't directly corrolate, but quitting EQ has helped. I played for almost 3 years also, RoK - PoP and quit when it just wasn't fun anymore, and I"m happy I did.

Yes, if you come back to EQ after having left for a substantial period of time, you usually end up playing a lot differently than you did. And usually in a healthier way. Or at least that's the pattern that I see and have experienced.

I left for three months once, and when I came back I was severly pissed off you couldn't have the "old" (pre-luclin) wolf models, and a variety of other 'old school' aspects I missed. I mainly came back because I was nostalgic about when I just started EQ, but I never got that feeling again. It just wasn't as fun the second time.

Play FFXI instead =p

Wait, EQ is fun now? I've been quit for 1-2 years by now I think. What changed? Is it still $15 a month? Right now I have literally barely over $13...

actually, I believe it's still $12.98 a month - cheaper if you get a multi-month package. (Back In Black)

I too have just returned to Everquest from DaoC, I quit half way through Shadows of Luclin. Just as Pedric said, after my long break the way I look at the game is a little different. I find it extremely easy to manage my EQ playing time, so it won’t be getting in the way of more important things anymore.

I just play on Rallos-Zek with my brother as an ogre shaman I made to play with his Ogre Shadowknight. Starting from scratch is kind of fun, we are 90% done getting the quest starter armour, and found ourselves a couple of nice rusty weapons off of some Lizardman broodlings. We are having a blast, and have not even started to PVP yet(only level 4). I am looking forward to Rallos Zek though, PVP is the best thing about MMORPGS, and unfortunately Dark Age of Camelot’s PVP server is absolute garbage, and realm combat is boring.

We came to the conclusion, hopefully a correct one, that the richies on the server will be a little less willing to toss their Fungi Tunic on their level 20 twink at the fear of losing it. Fights will be a little more even probably on this server then on Vallon or Sullon, with their super high level gear being offset by our extreme PVP skills. It’s going to be awesome taking peoples items and getting my items taken(Har har, like that is going to happen). Lots of danger, have to be quick and able to adapt to what the situation calls for. I can’t believe I played on a blue server for so long.

I quit about 3 months ago.

Well, I didn't really "quit", I just kinda stopped logging on because I wasn't having fun (guild was in elementals, almost in time). Raiding the planes just wasn't fun for me.

I'm still deciding whether or not I should sell my account with a 65 ranger and a 60 druid. I'm probably not going to because I really like my guild and don't want to do anything that makes them look bad. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had ALMOST quit...then a really hot officer sweet talked me into staying...and now I think I'm freaking hooked again.

Once I'm back into the game I will probably become a social ogre again.

If you've got a girlfriend then don't do it. If you're single and have no prospect for having a real life outside of the game then have your fun.

"If you're single and have no prospect for having a real life outside of the game then have your fun."

Fits me to a T.

Whatever that means.

Real life is stale, no one has a seen a dev in two thousand years, and wtf, no elves?! I'll stick with EQ.
