I have never felt the need for meaning, but just moreso to enjoy and help others do the same.

You may be right, the world is a sewer. But how often do you actually interact with the world as a whole? Generally small groups and individuals are not sewers. There are pleanty of good people and ways to enjoy the time we get to spend here.

Actually my reason...why not enjoy the time I have? It sure beats hating every minute.

When I read what you posted I knew how you interpeted the quote, but I disagree with that approach to it, that's why I disagree with what you're saying.

I don't see that quote to mean what you think it means... The way I see it, it means that the universe lacks meaning in an absolute manner, so it doesn't matter if you give your own life meaning or not, because it won't have a meaning even after you're done with it. To those whose lives you don't touch, it won't. Hence the quote it valid. "Meaning" requires perspective. The universe, as a whole, has none unless you are referring to an "Absolute" or "True" perspective. However, nothing ever changes from a True or Absolute perspective because energy remains constant and all is in a state of chaos. Entire galaxies collide, yet no energy is lost and chaos persists.

What's the point? Touch as many lives as you can in a positive manner. This permeates a greater number of perspectives even unto influencing group perspectives and grants deeper, broader meaning. Life isn't a game you can 'win.'
