Upon opening my mail today I noticed I got this letter. When I first opened it, I thought WOOT! I'm getting extra cash! I could sure as hell use it this time of year! Until I read the letter and saw the amount. Yes, I threw away money.
Dear Nyssa Rainwhisper,
You have been indentified as a member of the class of Citibank Card customers who are eligible for a refund under the terms of a settlement agreement reached in a class action lawsuit titled Schwartz v. Citibank (South Dakota), N.A. The accompanying check is your refund.
The enclosed check includes any refunds for which you were eligible. Due to the large number of accounts receiving refunds, it is not practical to provide individual calculations of the refund amounts. At the time of the settlement, we estimated that the average finance charge refund would be less than $1 for each eligible cardmember. That estimate proved correct.
If you completed and submitted a claim form, the claims administrator reviewed your claim, and determined what, if any, additional refunds you were eligible to receive. Any such refunds are included in this check. Please note that all determinations made by the administrator are final.
(It goes on to explain a few more legalities which really isn't pertinent to this post.)
Sincerely,
S. Larson

Then I looked at the amount on the check and here's exactly what it looks like in that little amount box on the right side of the check:
**$0.67**
Yes, that's right sixty seven friggin cents! That won't even cover the gas I'd use to drive to the bank to deposit that check! I'd never thought I'd ever tear up a legitimate check with my name on it, but I tore the check up and tossed it in the trash. Bastards.
