My car was totaled this morning at 1 am. I got the call from the local police department just as I went to bed. So I walk around the corner of my complex to the street where I parked. There are four police cars blocking the street. A honda or toyota had gone speedig down the street, clipped and removed my brother's rear bumper (still driveable), smashed into my car, pushed it up onto the curb and back into the car behind mine causing damage to the trunk, crumpled the front end , crushed the engine and bent the frame. IT'S A COMPLETE LOSS!!! 3 months before this incident I had already payed for the repairs to my car in an accident I caused!!! :"> :"> :"> I haven't had this car for 10 months.

I saw a guy go speeding (against the stop sign) through and intersection in a Camaro and T-bone a brand new SUV. The Camero was totaled, and the SUV needed serious work on its front end alignment, as it got hit around the front wheel well.
The driver of the Camaro flipped up his hood, got out of the car, and ran. I decided to check on the driver of the SUV, which had run off the street and into a tree, who, it turned out was also uninjured.
The police arrive and tell us the Camaro was stolen earlier that night.
So... who's insurance covers the SUV guy's damage?
Does the Camaro owner's do so, even though the car was stolen from him?
Would the Theif's* do so, assuming he had any, even though it would not have been for the Camaro in question?
The SUV guy -probably- had comprehensive, given that his vehicle had less than 100 miles on it (it was that new) and was still owned mostly by the bank..
*The police brought in a K-9 unit and found the guy about 30 minutes later (Gotta love them dogs!)

His insurance is irrelivant, only a fool goes without uninsured motorist coverage.
As for the car it sucks.. But Sounds like a bad luck car anyhow, best to be rid of it.

I don't really know what happens if you're uninsuranced and get into an accident in Canada. All I know is you legally can't drive unless you're insured. Since I can't afford it, my car sits there breaking and costing me money that I don't have since if I did I could afford to drive it and things wouldn't break.
Collision = Anything that happens, you are insured
Liability = If you caused the acciedent, you are insured, for your damages and theirs.
People like me(for example) can't even begin to afford collision, it's just too expensive. That's the bitch about liability, you're covered if you @#%$ up, but if it's a hit and run, a no insurnace accident on their part, you are stuck with the complete costs of repair and damages. You can sue them in civil court to get your money, but it's been my experience that if someone doesn't have liability at least, it's because they are too poor to afford it. That and a tooth brush.

No Nenjin, you are not, you get Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist Coverage added to your policy and IF someone who is uninsured hits you YOUR insurance pays for it then they go after the money.
Look into it, half the dip-@#%$ out there these days don't have insurance.

When you're still high risk for the next 3 or 4 years, getting that is not a cost I can really afford.

Really man ask your agent, I am as high risk as it comes, and it costs me like $3 a month to have uninsured motorist coverage.. It's like renters insurance, it's so cheap once you have it you'll wonder why the @#%$ it isn't on all policies.
