I like movies that sum up their entire plot in the title.
Saves me the trouble of seeing them.
I like Snakes on a Train.
"Hiss ain't no country I ever heard of"
Okay... this is really ******* creepy.
I hit the parent directory button and started clicking through photos. I came across this (http://www.lecherousjester.com/finestdrops/alexmike.jpg) one... and it's DEFINATELY a picture of my friend Marc and his cokehead friend Alex and some random guy. Marc's on the right....

Until you've seen the movie "Troll 2" you can not possibly form an educated opinion on "the worst movie ever". I seriously can not think of one actor in that movie that did a better job acting than anyone I've ever seen act in a highschool play. Oh god is it horrible. But this movie will probably come in a close 2nd :p

It must be a southern Indiana thing.
Yes, but Top added the delightful parodies. My favorite was Snakes on Dean Caine, "Wheres his super suit!"
What the hell is Samuel L Jackson doing in this movie?

My favorite snakes on a plane (http://www.frozenreality.co.uk/comic/bunny/index.php?id=381).
It's totally true about the being awesome.
You either want to see this movie or you don't. Snakes On A Plane! There's no mystery to that!
I get to spend six and a half weeks going to set every day going 'Ah! Ah! Ow! Ow!'
Also the "production team" or whatever changed the name to Pacific Air Flight 121 and Jackson made them change it back.
That’s the only reason I took the job: I read the title.

Tail Sting makes Troll 2 look oscar worthy.
The Shaft (http://imdb.com/title/tt0247303/).
Killer elevator. 'Nuff said.
I still maintain that FearDotCom(.com) was the worst movie ever. It was a complete rush job to beat The Ring. But thats not what made it the worst. As my friend put it...
SPOI...(pfft, like Im gonna put a spoiler alert on this piece of garbage)
Theres a reason there are no female hemopheliacs....
Tail Sting makes Troll 2 look oscar worthy.
yall obviously havent seen "manos: hands of fate".
this is the best line regarding snakes on a plane though (from the imdb user board)
"Snakes on a Plane 2: Planes on a Snake
Year 2060. The US Army now uses giant snakes as army bases. The biggest snake-base, Sssrah!, is being attacked by giant bees. It's the 5 snake's best pilots job to go out and defend the snake from the bees in their supersonic snake venom powered jet."

worst movie ever? Black & White
yes, a movie, not the game.
Personally, I'd rather see "snakes on a plane" than half a dozen academy award winning cinematic insights into the human spirit.

Howard the Duck is definitely the worst movie ever. Time has made people forget about just how awful that movie was. Remember that it was not just some B-movie thrown together by a guy who wanted to make a movie just to say he made a movie. It was a major project, big-budget motion picture, by George Lucas, who had just come off the success of Return of the Jedi and Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom.
A media blitz before its release raised people's expectations. After all, this was the follow-up to Star Wars and Indiana Jones. We got to the theatre, and Howard the Duck was what we saw.

IMO the worst movie ever was The Avengers. The only movie I was ever tempted to walk out of part way. It also produced a great conversation with my sister when she tried to sit thru it on video (just to see how bad it was). It went something like this:
Sis : God it was terrible, but I don't think it helps that I dozed off at one point. One second I was watching Steed do something corny, then I much have dropped off as next thing I knew people were sat about in flouresent TeddyBear outifts. I guess I must have missed the bit where the reason for that was explained cos it really confused me.
Me : You didn't fall asleep. The movie just goes like that.
Sis : Oh .........
This was big budget, big name stars, and had the help of having the main characters pre-made decades ago. And it still managed to be almost unwatchable. Ffs they even managed to leave the second half of a joke/plotthread in the movie, after having cut the first half out in editting. An amazingly poor performance.
The Shaft (http://imdb.com/title/tt0247303/).
Killer elevator. 'Nuff said.
Oh boy, did I ever read that Plot Summary wrong.
I read:
"Plot Summary: When the express elevators in the Millennium Building, one of New York's most famous landmarks, start to malfunction and behave in erotic ways."
and thought WTF! Sounds like a crappy porn horror.
Why they ever thought they should make a D&D 2 after that fiasco...
Though the second one was much better, it still wasnt high quality stuff.
My vote for worst movie though has to be Tokyo Fist. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114690/). I couldent get myself to watch the whole thing.
But some buddies of mine claim some porno called necronomicon is the worst. (They had watched it before I ever met them, they didnt even know it was a porno when they rented it)

Yeah, I think this is probably the movie to miss expectations by the most.
Of course, it just goes to show you why George Lucas has never done anything other than Star Wars and Indiana Jones since.

You're forgetting Leprechaun 4: In Space (1997) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116861/).
This one's about the leprechaun in space, meeting a princess he wants to marry in order to take over her father's kingdom. Some gung-ho Marines show up and blast him to bits (as if that's going to slow him down). They go back to their ship with the princess and the leprechaun starts chasing them around. There's also a subplot about a half human / half machine mad scientist who wants to use the princess' blood to make himself fully human again.
I love low budget sci-fi horror flicks, but this one doesn't even try. At all. It's as if the filmmakers said that since there are comedy elements, to heck with everything. The characters are poorly developed, others are just jokes; There's not even a hint of suspense due to the leprechaun's making a joke of everything. There's absolutely no atmosphere, there's absolutely no feeling that you're involved in the plot.
In other words, even by the incredibly low standards of low budget sci-fi horror movies, this thing doesn't measure up. It doesn't even measure up to the even lower standards of the first Leprechaun movie. About the only thing it has going for it is that the female Marine looks really hot.

Eye of the Beholder (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120662/)
Ashley Judd and Ewan McGregor in what has to be the most convoluted pile of crap I've ever seen. This movie is so bad it's even managed to convince some people that they just don't understand it, and that the movie is actually good, just confusing and thought provoking a la David Lynch. Unfortunately anyone who thinks along those lines is just trying to rationalize because their mind cannot comprehend the abortion that is this film.

Whoever compiled that list hasn't seen very many movies apparently. There were some BAD movies made before 1980, but only a couple appear on this list.
Here are some I have particular problems with:
Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995) - not as funny as the original, but one of the 100 worst?
Armageddon (1998) - This is a fun action movie with a few pretty hilarious scenes mixed in, like the psychological profile. Yes its predictable and unrealistic, but that's not why we see these kinds of movies.
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (1980) - This movie is hilarious. No way is it one of the 100 worst.
Batman & Robin (1997) - Worst of the Batman series, but not even close to the worst 100 of all time.
The Blair Witch Project (1999) - There seems to be some real hatred of this movie that I can't figure out. This is the only movie I've ever seen that scared me. I guess some people just equate horror with blood spatter.
The Cheech and Chong Films of the 1980's - There is a lot of funny stuff here. Stoner humor may not be your cup of tea, but this stuff doesn't deserve to be on this list.
The Gods Must Be Crazy (1984US) - This is a great movie. It probably belongs on a top 250 or 300 list. I'm not sure how it ended up here.
Godzilla (1998) - This was an updated special effects remake of a campy franchise. Why were people surprised that it was a campy movie? I didn't think it was that great, but it delivered exactly what it promised.
Hudson Hawk (1991) - Underrated movie. I think this site might have a bias against Bruce Willis as well. Sure, this wasn't a real strong movie, but it had its moments.
Independence Day (1996) - You have to be kidding me? This is among one of the top 100 action movies ever. It has aliens, special effects and comedy. What more do you want?
Last Action Hero (1993) - Another underrated action movie. Here's a clue to people: If you are going to an action movie, don't expect Lawrence Olivier.
Mars Attacks! (1996) - This movie was hilarious. Just because you don't like dark humor doesn't mean it wasn't funny.
Natural Born Killers (1994) - Another great movie here. This is Oliver Stone's best since Platoon, and is Woody Harrelson's best performance in a movie. Yes, its violent and over-the-top, and I think that made some people miss the statement about media sensationalization.
The "Police Academy" Series (1984- 1994) - Part II was very good. I notice Steve Gutenberg made this list a few times.
The Porky's Trilogy (1982, 1983, 1985) - I don't care for these, but at least the first one has a kind of a "Man Show" humor in them that a lot of people enjoy.
Rocky V (1990) - This is probably the best Rocky movie besides 1 and 2. This is more of an introspective film, and I think most people who actually saw this just wanted to see punching. If I recall, only one punch is thrown in the entire movie, so people were disappointed.
Star Trek-The Motion Picture (1979) and the "odd numbered" original cast Star Drek sequels - The first and third Star Trek movies were good. If you don't like Star Trek to begin with, why were you even in the theatre?
Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace (1999) - I was disappointed in this one, to be sure, but top 100 worst? It wasn't that disappointing.
Titanic (1997) - I hated this movie, but its clearly not one of the 100 worst.
Who's That Girl (1987) - This is a very underrated movie. This one suffered from being out at the same time as the Jeff Daniels/Melanie Griffith movie Wild Thing, which had a similar plot. Watched by itself, its a pretty funny movie.
Wild Wild West (1999) - Disappointing? Yes. Its still a decent action movie, however, with a good mix of humor, action and special effects. Plus it has Kenneth Branaugh.
Some of those other movies probably aren't quite bad enough to be in the worst 100, but I wouldn't vouch for those.
I have to say, I think a large portion of that list is crap. It does have some really bad movies - and I'm glad to see someone giving Cheech and Chong the press they deserved... not that I don't like them, the movies just sucked.
But yeah - Independence Day? C'mon. Pshaw... and The Gods Must Be Crazy was a damned funny film.
How has Battlefield Earth eluded the conversation thus far?
Wow, I saw the trailer for Can't Stop The Music when the thatre that plays RHPS here had to get a new reel and that was on it (The guy that owned the trailer, not the reel, eventually asked for it back), just watching the trailer for that movie made me think I had caught teh ghey.
Further reading proves that this list is null and void of all credibility: Natural Born Killers & Red Dawn are great movies http://pichold.com/Images/Smilies/squint.gif

One of my friends rented a Dean Cain movie a couple years ago, about some underwater mining colony. This was when we'd rent bad movies every weekend to watch.
The best part about the movie was the fact that it had ONLY, and I mean ONLY, three sets - an office, an L-shaped hallway, and part of a tram tunnel. In the hallway there were two trashcans which they would randomly remove or move around for shots; we made a joke about how at some point someone's going to knock one of them over, and then in a "different" hallway we're going to see the same knocked over can.
Well, it turned out not to be a joke - Cain was chasing a guy, and he went around the corner and knocked a can over. Then they switched to "another" hallway shot, but the same can was still lying there on the floor. GG continuity editors!
I can't speak for it because I never saw it, but last year in the dorms, people raved about a movie called Nailgun Massacre. The title alone makes me want to get drunk and watch.
And as for Battlefield Earth, notice that neither Hord or I mentioned it as being an anomaly within the 100 worst films. ;)

I've never actually seen Battlefield: Earth in its entirety. I could never make myself sit through the whole thing. The dialogue is pretty unbearable, but not in an unintentionally funny kind of way. I'm more embarrassed for Barry Pepper and the other actors who got conned by John Travolta.
