Greetings all,

For a variety of personal reasons out-of-game and in-game, Shadowone D`Lunaris has decided to take an extended and probably permanent leave of absence. I considered it a matter of pride that I was able to reach 23rd level with such a broken class, but a variety of frustrations with the in-game mechanics, personal dynamics in-game, and real life pressures have forced this move.

I would like to say farewell to the rogues I knew in-game especially Dagorn, Ebonmongoose, Kelnya, Lallaeni, and Ueuelyan and to all the young dark elf rogues I have tried to encourage along the way. As I told many friends Saturday night -- keep up the good fight and good luck in your hunting and your travails.

Although they will probably never see this message, my thanks and best wishes also go to my many ogre friends with whom I fought many a lizardman in Feerrott (Bagim, Linlhutz, Litespeed, Ogos, Ozzi, Trighal, Zglaana, and Zimtuok), other dark elfs I have shared fun with (Breche, Gerzan, and Nezereth) and to my good friend, the troll shaman, Korak Frogswiller.

It was not an easy decision, but it was a necessary one and I bid you adieu as I remain,

I posted my mixed feelings concerning this game on the Rant Board, but messages get pushed down quickly there, so I felt I should explain here for anyone that sees my retirement notice and then turns around to see me still in-game. I have an intense love-hate relationship with this game that will prompt me one moment to log onto the game and try again and at another moment to come with inches of snapping the CD in-half. I suspect I am in a downward spiral similar to what I went thru when I quit UO, but it is possible that this spiral could last some time.

Therefore, do not be surprised to see Shadowone still roaming Norrath sporadically though it is doubtful he will be seen nearly as regularly as in times past.

Well, in perusing the Bertoxxulous board on Everworld.net I see that Kelnya the Jester has announced his retirement. He was a 21st level rogue and an inspiration to roguish behavior everywhere. He might post something here, but from the tone of his announcement it sounded doubtful. I just wanted to memorialize his leaving for those on Bert who knew him.
