Hello all, of course none of you know me because I am new, so hello again.
I can't say I am up to 100% of all the information on the "rogue, brigand, highwayman, thug, assassin, hunter-killer, stalker, pirate, etc...", I did a quick look through in search and on the forums so I am sorry if I missed anything dealing with what I am about to say and am reposting old and used words.
I would like to know if the weapon will matter for backstab damage, most games throughout the ages usually had a rogue with a knife/short sword for his main piercing weapon to make his backstabs work, in vanguard I read that they can also use blunt weapons and slashing weapons, will these have a lesser effect for backstabbing or will piercing weapons have better outcomes? I personally would like to play a rogue with a short spear/lance/javelin as a main hand weapon if they have piercing as a major factor in backstabbing.
I would also like to know if garrotes, be it rope, a chain from a busted wooden hanging sign, a bard's lute/harp/guitar string or whatever else you can think of as a suitable device will be used in the game and if they are will they give Instant kills or hard damaging effects (E.G. Mobs gasping for breath or bleeding out of the large line you cut into their throats with the item)?
I like to play rogues because I like the criminality of the class but beyond that I like the adventure and exploration of the class more. I would rather be the rogue who can go into stealth in the shadows sneak by enemies, pick the lock on a door and descend 20 floors of insane difficulty labyrinth to see the caverns under belly and just maybe sneak away with some goodies from whatever treasure trove was around or an enemy I could pick pocket a nice item off of. Rather than being the rest of the group who has to fight 30 mobs on the top floor to get a key to open that door and run through so many enemies before reaching the bottom to see the same things I did.
I also like to fight dirty, kicks to the family jewels, mob beatings when people fall and the like in games.
