BETA key from retail

So i pre-ordered Vanguard at a retail store, and i called them today and they got a beta key for me.....so i rushed over and got the DVD and installed the game. But when i tried to login, it says the game is in Closed Beta atm.....and i gotta wait til Open Beta?? anyone know when will open beta be? Doesn't open beta mean everyone can get in?? if so then why i need to get the DVD from the retail store?? sry if i'm a n00b asking for all these n00b questions......i never play much beta stuffs before.....

open beta will start 2 weeks before launch. Its not an 'open' open beta, you'll need an invite to get in.

I work at a Video Game retail store and our system shows that Vanguard is scheduled to release on 1/29/06 atm. Now, being in the industry I also understand that a game can be pushed back at anytime. All Sigil has promised is early winter/spring 07
