What a horribly boring game between teams that didn't even look like they deserved to be on the field. Best player the Colts had out there was Rex Grossman. What a pathetic performance.

Thats an awesome picture, and I thought it was going to be a good game especially at the start, its odd watching the bears play though when they win you dont think they're doing very well. Then they lose and you think its on average, but you look at the score and its pretty close for most of the game.

I'm a big Rex supporter -- but man... he makes it hard sometimes!

Oh well, they still made it to the Super Bowl, and things are looking pretty good for next year. GO BEARS!

I actually enjoyed watching that game...until the 4th quarter anyway. Seriously, the Superbowl is often a blowout by halftime, and this one wasn't. It wasn't out of hand until the 4th (when Rex decided to play for Indy).

I love wet, muddy conditions in football games, and it was great to see a Superbowl that wasn't all sun and gun.

I was bitter by the end, but mainly because I really really wanted to see the Bears pull it out.

Take it from a Bronco fan who's had to support Plummer for the past few years, demand a new QB!

ditto that...you deserve Jake Plummer. Throw Byner in the backfield for good measure.

My heart was broken so many times by that buck-toothed bastard.

This was my first NFL season, and my team made it to, and won the Superbowl. Best Superbowl ever? Yeah.

Not only did they win the SB, but they beat the friggin Patriots whose bandwagon my roommate has been driving all year.

We did want to thank you for your defensive line... and laugh a little inside on you teams management actually taking Ruben Droughns in trade. :P

With Plummer out and Cutler in I am quite hopeful! Maybe you guys can lose a couple more playoff games to us someday soon :)

With all the love in our hearts,

A Broncos Fan

Best player the Colts had out there was Rex Grossman. What a pathetic performance.
It isn't Rex Grossman's fault that the Bears supposedly dominant defense gave up 450 yards to an offense mired in a monsoon, and 100+ yards to a running back who had only rushed for 100 yards five other times in a six-year career. Apparently deluded into believing that the game was actually being played indoors and on turf, the Bears defense sat back 10 yards away from the receivers, desperately trying to prevent the long-touchdown-pass. The Colts instead used its running game and dump passes to take 5 and 6 yards at a time.

Grossman started out the game decently enough - certainly better than Peyton Manning did - and then sat on the bench for an hour waiting to get back into the game. Whenever Grossman did have the rare opportunity to actually take a snap, he knew he had to make a big play, so he was forcing throws in the pouring rain.

Because of injuries, Grossman has about 18-20 games under his belt now, despite being in his fourth season. Look around the league, you'll be hard-pressed to find many quarterbacks that did as well in their second year in the NFL. Heck, even with his up-and-down season, Grossman still outperformed all but 9 or 10 other starting QBs in the league. I'd be careful before advocating that the Bears dump him.

Yeah, he'll be around next year. Even with Bad Rex showing up some of the time he's still the best QB the Bears have had in a long time. I really think in a year or two once he gets all the mental stuff worked out he'll be a consistently great QB. My concern is just keeping the rest of the team great alongside him.

As for the defense though, yards don't concern me all that much. They held the Colts to 22 points (7 came off that INT return) which is below their average points scored per game. All the offense had to do was score 1 more TD on their own and they couldn't.

Defense was playing soft all day. Remember the words of Buddy Ryan:

"When you play prevent defense, you prevent your team from winning"

I think the bears did better than expected, at least for three quarters. They got away from the game plan though and ended up getting beaten the same way the Ravens did.

Prince was the best part of the Superbowl.

Does it earn you a special level of Geek when the only reason you know who's playing in the Super Bowl is because people in World of Warcraft keep talking about it?

The better question is, why did he cover it so poorly?

korthuran

He covered several things poorly.

I want Metallica or something damnit. As talented as Prince is he is NOT football music. What really pisses me off is that he was a move in the right direction compared to previous years.

Also the comericials were lackluster, there were a few gems. But to redeem them I will bring to all of your attention the best superbowl ad of them all.

Yeah, this year's Superbowl really could have benefitted from giving another Janet Jackson boobie shot or something. Heck, anything to spice up the proceedings.

Remember back in the day when the halftime show used to be a lot crazier? Now what do we get? Prince?!

I hope all the soccer moms are happy. They finally got what they wanted: a bland football game with nothing interesting taking place between two teams most of the country couldn't give two craps about.

Who should we have? The Cowboys vs. the Steelers every year? Jesus, seriously...two teams make it to the Super Bowl, leaving everyone else's favority teams (and their fans) to watch. So you're saying that those two teams should be the most popular teams? Maybe we should just cut the league down to four teams total? Dallas, Pittsburgh, Green Bay and...**** who would fit here, Oakland?

The game was hardly bland. Bland is a defense-fest; 3 and out, 3 and out, etc... (though I actually love a good, close defensive game). That game had balls flying all over the place, big hits, and a guy who seems to have become America's new sweetheart qb.

Halftime show...well whatever. It was no worse than any others I've seen recently, but seriously, we never even used to watch the halftime shows. Hell, I remember when we used to switch over to the Beavis and Butthead 15 minute halftime special instead.

I was bored watching the Superbowl. At least the Ref's kept their hands off this year.

Personally, when I saw how much it was raining before the game, I was tickled pink. This was going to be a Superbowl that didn't have one or both teams just scripting the first 10 or 15 plays, and actually having to make real adjustments to their style.

Boring? No, it wasn't boring. Sloppy? Yeah, it was. Who cares, tho. Sloppy is fun!

My biggest complaint was that the field held up too well. Christ, play the Superbowl during a downpour, but have a tractor pull on the field the night before. Let's have rain, and mud, and clumps of turf ripping up and flying everywhere.

Heh, you're like me. I think all Browns fans long for that kind of superbowl weather, like the old days before they decided that perfect weather was best.

After the first 5 minutes of the game I was hoping it would be a good game filled with turn overs and excitement, then it turned to crap and I watched the Bears throw the game away.
