View Full Version : 6th of March Patch
**Taken from the official Vanguard site**
On Tuesday, March 6th 2007, Vanguard Update #1 will go live. It will be a much larger patch than usual as not only will there be new content but a great deal of additional art as well. Update #1 includes:
Dozens of new weapon models
Six brand new NPC races to battle
Two new mid to high level adventuring areas
Nine dungeons with revamped art and/or lighting
I'm sorry but crap like this is really starting to pee me off, your game is full of bugs, half of the things you promised before release are missing, we have no head gear, Rogue's suck, game engine needs optimizing, Sorcerers need to be nerfed, Diplomacy needs to yield some kind of reward as in money or items rather than purely wasting game time, there needs to be vast improvements in customer service, I am owed half a level bar at level 17 due to a bug which to date I still have NOT had even a reply to despite being told that my petition should now be logged as a bug.
Sort that out before anything else and stop being so damn stupid, companies like yourself never prosper. You're currently a laughing stock of the developer community and the only thing you will achieve is failure on a grand scale.
/Rant over and nn

The majority of this content is graphical. Artists don't debug code.
Find something new to bitch about.

Okay, you need to understand that they have more than 1 person working on things. That update is mostly just content updates, which is a seperate team. Its mostly art updates, which the art team does not deal with the engine, bugs etc...
They have teams for major updates, fixes etc... all seperate.
They are working on everything as best they can. So take a chill pill dude.
Sorc's are fine. Rogues are getting fixed among tons of other things.
Sigil is a TEAM. Teams accomplish many things at the same time.
Content updates are SEPERATE.
Lemme say again...
THIS IS A CONTENT UPDATE, SEPERATE FROM OTHER UPDATES AND FIXES.

Sure, the game has bugs, and yes, some things do not work as maybe they should, or they do not work how you think they should, and I do agree it sucks when you get hit by a bug that has a negative effect on your char.
The thing is, for every single person that posts on a forum, saying that the game is buggy as hell, its crap, your a laughing stock, etc etc, there are probably a few thousand other players, not saying a word, because for them, everything is fine, and they would like nothing more than the kind of patch coming on the 6th, and they are too busy playing to post on forums.

Nice though I really wish they had added more outfits and hair styles and stuff in that graphic patch. If the don't that is when it goes live.

Guy I know that works in SOE's hardware side told me to be expecting a large content patch like this soon, ie couple hundred mb. Basically said it was stuff SGO has been wanting to get patched in for awhile had not been able to.
It's been said already but is worth repeating, different teams work on different parts of the game. This doesn't mean the bug team got transferred to the art department to make erotic dance animations for gnomes. (Although that is needed)
Ap, I gotta ask, is this your second MMORPG, with WoW being the first? Because to be quite honest, you're getting worked up over a lot of stuff we've seen happen before. If you're looking for happiness, then multiplayer online games ain't gonna fulfill the need. Bugs, early releases, mixed messages, contradicting statements are the norm. To expect perfection is to decieve yourself on human nature and the nature of the modern game marketplace.
Try and relax and enjoy the twisty bumpy ride for what it gives you.

Geez, we gonna whine about content now?
And dont give me any crap about you not having enough HD space (try deleting some pr0n) or that your inet connection sucks (download at a friends house, download at work or just start the download when you go to bed and remember to cancel those pr0n torrents.)
Posts like Brelkor's really pisses me off. Do not bite the hand that feed you mate.
They are making the game BETTER, deal with it or just quit.

I think the worst siutation that we are facing as gamers is that we cannot replay this content like the first time. . .I wish I worked on crafting until this rogue revamp was done all the way, so I could have some bad ass gear waiting for my adventuring and so that I could play the class like the developers intended.
I doubt Sigil is a laughing stock, because this manner in which the game was released is being emulated by others, even more simple games are coming out in a poor manner, look at WoW, EQ, EQ2. . .all of em, you wouldn't think that they came out buddy and not so full of content because. . .you didnt play them until they were out for a while. . .even now the "we can patch it later attotude" is being displayed with console games. . .too much corporate influence on our games. . .Vanguard isn't the first and they wont be the last that has these kinds of issues, expect things to get worse for us from a customer service standpoint as we seek out new games and new highs

I suspect that the team being so experienced with MMORPGs wont be hasty to nerf or otherwise quickly and aggressively change classes. The reason being that often its alot of conjecture or ignorance or overestimated and an experienced team is going to have the patience to see how it really comes out.
Also there is one other factor that makes class balance less of a deal in the first 6 months of a game. You can start over....
I mean the reason class balance is a critical consumer force in older games is its effectively impossible to practically reroll.
In the first 6 months the devs can say "this is how we see classes and we are sticking to our guns" and ~MOST~ players will go "ok I dont like class X I am going to play class Y" instead of "ok I dont like vanguard"
I think original poster is in a zealous minority where he associates the quality of the game with his opinion about the class he rolled. Very few people are that zealous that early in a games life. If you dont like the class do what the average person does 2 months into a game and start a new one...

Nobody saw the original posters name and thought Duke Nukem 3D (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_Nukem_3D) ?
Edit:
Sorry. I meant Duke Nukem Forever (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_Nukem_Forever)

Castle of the Winds!
These art people are bloody lazy, all they want to do every day is just draw images and make graphics for there game, What they really need to do is get managment on there ass and get in front of a computer and start debugging this game.
Bloody artists always being lazy.

Or had to code in yourself every time you wanted to play because you didnt have a casette tape player attached to the computer at the time.
