I got a wizard mark (detonation) last nite on the first thing i killed in luclin.. some uncommon named rock guy outside of the nexus area in dawnshroud peaks. it looks like a rune and isnt stackable and is lore but not no drop if that helps at all.. then i went and camped the rockhoppers hoping for a couple of the pieces that say rockhopper in the name but was only there for about 90 minutes and didnt see one drop. at least this stuff is out there...
the mob that dropped it was 39-40ish

Currently it appears that the marks and jewels can drop off of any "appropriate" mob (analogous to how only certain Velious mobs can drop velious armor gems). It'll be interesting to see if certain mobs can only drop a subset of the gems and marks.

Also, as for the miscellaneous items, it will be interesting to see if these drop off of specific mobs. Perhaps the most obvious example is for warrior cloak -- do Twilight Fish Scales really drop off of fish in the Twilight Sea? One would presume so, but it would be nice to have confirmation.

Good to know. One question that would be helpful to have answered: do ferocious wolves drop any other kind of miscellaneous objects? Or do they only drop True Silver Idols? Or have True Silver Idols been found on any other mobs?

Also interesting to see that the gems/marks/miscellaneous objects are all tradable. Now instead of hearing, "sorry, the last piece you needed for your dirk just rotted cause you couldn't get here in time", you'll be hearing "I'll sell it to you for 10kpp". =)

Well, I have both good and bad news. I was hunting in Dawnshroud peaks this evening and I found the following things:

Silvery Wolf -- Mark of True Self
Rabid Wolf -- Mark of Intensity
Ferocious Wolf -- True Silver Idol

So what's the good and bad news? Well, I won't claim a sample size of 2 is anywhere near confirming this, but from the ferocious wolf reports it appears right now that specific mobs drop specific pieces (either miscellaneous items or marks). Also, these mobs are uncommon/rare spawns in the zone. My suspicion is that they can spawn in place of any mob of a similar type (eg. any of the above wolves can spawn in place of a normal wolf).

So the good news is that if this really is true, as it seems, we can catalog each drop. If you need a True Silver Idol, you'll know to go to Dawnshroud and look for a ferocious wolf. The bad news is that since the mobs that drop these pieces are uncommon/rare and have different names than the normal mobs, odds are the one you want will probably be killed by someone else.

Hopefully you'll have something they want to trade them for the piece you need.

aye, some of the components are definitey mob specific. the tiger cheetah, panther cheetah and powerful rockhopper were all slightly altered names. and i only had to kill one of each to get the items.

commons are scarlet cheetah and scarlet rockhopper. so it looks like some will be random, while others are static.

if anyone has gotten a mark of weather, please let me know where. once i get it, i will be able to turn in for druid boots and can post what i get.

I've also noticed that the named mobs (at least in Dawnshrouds Peaks) seem to be lower level than the normal mobs they replace.

I'd really like to see the stats on a completed piece so we all know what we're working towards. If anybody hears or sees anything, be sure and let us know. In the meantime, keep the info coming.

I got an Onyx Studded Medallion from a Cunning Rockhopper at the back of the rockhopper cave in Dawnshroud. Spawns right on top of the Rockhopper Ravager spawn, but has a much longer spawn cycle (independent of the Ravager).

Today I also got a Tethered Leash from a Stealthy Rockhopper in Dawnshroud. Spawned in the cave deep in from which two passages/rooms fork.

The rockhopper ravager is not one of the TS quest dropping mobs.. I killed a couple and got basic rockhopper loots.. the crushed skull is not for necro quest or if it is it can drop from any rockhopper and is very common.. got 4 last nite and a couple the night before. I thought it was for the Gant's remains quest but I gave the guy all the crushed skulls and severed limbs (arms and legs) that I had and didnt get anything. i didnt see any other remains in cave yet

I was rather disappointed the Dread Horror didn't drop the Dread Hilt -- oh well. Mons Latalis is an incredible zone -- you can barely move without taking falling damage. One of the mobs (the stonegrabbers?) WAY undercon -- my level 60 rogue couldn't kill a green because it was consistantly double hitting me for 130+. Worst con in Luclin I've encountered. I hope I never have to go back, but knowing me I'll be back there a lot for some stupid reason. =)

After collecting so many pieces, it really makes me realize how difficult it's going to be to get a match. It's not so much that the pieces are hard to get, it's that there are so damn many of them. A rough estimate between the marks and miscellaneous items nets nearly 500 items.

All found in Dawnshroud Peaks. All but the Gem of Blue Skies were found in the cavern just to the left of the Netherbian Lair.

When Rockhoppers inhabit the cave, you need to kill "An Age Old Rockhopper" that is a rare spawn in the back of the cave. When killed, all rockhoppers in the cave will despawn and in around 5 minutes the cave will respawn with Sambata (cavemen) inhabitants. To switch the caves back to Rockhoppers, you need to kill a rare spawn "Sambata Tribal Keeper Garn" who spawns in the same location that the Age Old Rockhopper spawns. Both mobs con'd blue to level 60, but were soloable.

These seem to be an upgrade to the old temple of sol armor quests on norrath. But I don't see many mid level players doing these quests as it is very difficult to get around luclin and at about there 40's the majority are in dl experience grinding. Besides it sucks having to run around luclin and then get quaded for 100 by a wandering greenie cause it sees through invis. Thats no joke, it happens to me almost every time I venture into luclin out door zones. And the graphic lag issues have yet to be resolved.

As others have said, THESE quests appear to be Sol Temple upgrade quests. I'm betting most will be similar to Planar type armor which would bridge the gap from old quest armor to Velious quest armor.

As for Epic Armor, if this doesn't look like an "Epic Armor" piece (aka ToV type) then I don't know what does:

I doubt it. Like a previous poster said, this stuff is a bridge between Solusek Ro armor quests and Planar stuff. Expect it to not make your jaw drop. It'll be nice stuff for high 40's that don't have planar, or even 50-55 players filling holes, or still using their Sol Ro stuff.
For the most part, I have a feeling that most people doing these quests now will be disappointed in the results, but only because they've got better gear already.

Personally, I'm disappointed in these quests. Although most can be done by a small group of high-40s/low-50s, the amount of time needed to collect the pieces for even one piece of armor is immense.

Given that pickup raids to the planes happen all the time on Emarr (and thus I'm assuming other servers too), it seems silly to design a series of quests aimed at people who will not be able to go on planes raids because their guilds aren't large enough. If you're high enough to do these quests, you've got to have at least a few social connections I would assume, and thus many chances to go to the planes.

The jewels I've found (sky, cloud, moon & star) have been semi-rare drops off of the rockgrabbers in Dawnshroud.

Dizax and Quebic -- look on page 4 of this thread. Tabbran completed a SK bracer, and the stats on it are very comparable to Hate/Fear gear. It's reasonable to assume this will hold true for the other armors as well -- and since many of the people doing these quests (myself included) have long since stopped wearing hate/fear gear, it's been generally labeled as "crap".

The jewels seem to drop off a number of mobs in a number of zones -- they're just rare drops. Personally, I've gotten one off "a wolf" in Dawnshroud, but I know they can drop off rockgrabbers and lightcrawlers too.

I have yet to see or hear of any rogue marks or anything rogue like at all. I have been around asking etc /auc nothing. even if the stuff is crap @#%$ forbid anything bad happen to someone and they may loose their body etc would be nice to have a backup set of gear in bank + weapons just incase. Instead of running around naked. I have no planes armor yet, nor do I have any ToV armor, I do have Mrylokars, but I am all AC + Hps currently. My strength etc sucks for a rogue. (158 buffed).

I will have to go through list and rewrite mobs down sorry about that. All of the ones I listed have fallen off stonegrabbers (named type and regular ones) in Dawnshroud. With the exception of Mark of Wolf fell off a sharptooth, we also saw one drop off a blood hungry wolf, Mark of Cunning? fell off a cunning wolf. Tablet of wolf? fell off a cunning wolf as well. (someone else has the last two mentioned and I cant remember if that is their correct name.)

Implied in this but not stated is that individual quest pieces are Lore but *not* no drop. Is this correct? I ask because my Iksar SK is KOS to the quest-givers but the only character I have capable of killing the mobs required. Could I use him to get the quest pieces and then give the pieces to my monk...cause we already know that the armor itself could then be traded back from my monk to my SK.

Fendekar, what Kazadun meant was that he could only collect the Quest pieces he needs to hand in, with his SK. But his SK is KoS to the Quest giver. So he wanted to know if the individual quest pieces were No Drop, not the eventual Quest Reward. Reason being that his SK is his only character capable of doing the gathering.

Kazadun, if you check out the first page, somewhere in the initial comments, someone posted the stats on the True Silver Idol. It's Magic and Lore, but NOT No Drop, so there is hope

When analyzing the list of Jewels needed by the various classes, a few interesting observations can be made.

First of all it appears that every time two armor pieces are connected in what Jewels are needed.

Boots - on their own
Bracers - Weapon
Breastplate - Cloak
Gloves - Sleeves
Helm - Veil
Shoulders - Belt
Greaves - Neck

Also, the Jewel scheme of several Classes is coinciding

Bard - Wizard
Magician - Beastlord - Monk
Druid - Paladin
Rogue - Enchanter
Necromancer - Warrior
Cleric - Ranger
Shadowknight - Shaman

However, there are a few discrepancies in this list. First of all, the Necromancer list appears to be the same as the Warrior one, but half of it is unknown. Secondly, there appears to be a deviation in two classes from this scheme, Rangers and Wizards. It might be a good idea to double-check those ...

With Rangers, the list currently says Moon Jewel for the Belt and Sun Jewel for the Axe, but according to the "general" plot, the Axe should have the Moon Jewel, and the Belt the Sun Jewel.

Also, the Wizard has Cloud Jewel listed for the Mask, while this - according to the general layout - should be the Meteor Jewel.

All the others confirm to the general scheme for the Jewels.

I just checked Allakhazam's Quest listing; there, too, the deviations from the general scheme are listed. So it seems that ingame it is correct, just deviates from what would be "logical". Then again, I doubt there are Vulcans working over at Verant, heh.

Based on that, however, expect Astral Jewels to be in slightly less demand than other Jewels, and Cloud Jewels in slightly more demand. Of course, that assumes equal drop rates on the various Jewels.

Prepare to be disappointed with every piece then. Its mid level stuff, almost comparable to old world planes drops (ac on the SK bracer is the same as umbral). Consider is an upgrade to the Sol Ro temple quests. I certainly dont expect something that a level 60 would wear from a quest with drops off green mobs.

Not everything new is intended for the 55+ crowd.

One interesting thing: the scavenger minnow in Twilight Sea has now been reported to drop no less than 6 different items! It would be particularily interesting if it dropped exactly 7 (evidence for the days of the week theory, with this particular spawn always spawning the scavenger minnow).

The gems seem to be like the velious gems, they can fall from mobs of the appropriate level, I would say anything in the 30ish range, from the various posts here about creatures that are dropping them.

These quests are pretty neat, esp when you look at the level ranges they are for (35-45).. the last couple expansions (and the original EQ) didnt seem to have a lot for peeps in this range.. most quests are either reallllly newbish or for higher levels. this stuff is great, I wish it was around when i was in my 30's and 40's, i would have spent time here killing x mob until x item dropped and moved to next camp, instead of sitting in sol b or lower guk, or killing troll guards. EXP and nifty items for mid to high 30s and low to mid 40s until they can go to planes.. and not just visible pieces either. I'd have worn that necklace before I made my artic wyvern gorget or until I get an ivory imbued collar from chardok.

On a side note, here are the pieces that i've seen stats for here so far:

I'm seeing a definite pattern here..
AC (not tov'ish but not bad for 35-45)
+3 to 2 important stats
+1 to secondary important stat
+ hit points (+2 for wis casters, +3 for int casters, +5 for hybrids)
+mana (+2 for hybrids +5 for wis/int casters)
+1 to one save.

no warrior/monk/rogue stuff for pure melee types.. but i'm assuming they wont have mana.

These arent crap. You get all of the stats you need for your class, just in little doses.. much better than the crafted/temple of sol ro quests where you get like +5 to one stat on each piece, staggered to make sure you get +5 to all stats w/a full set.. or a breastplate w/nothing but + crappy resists on it. These quests are fun for me.. the named mobs give me giggles (big headed alien that drops a brain? 5 toed guy that drops an extra toe? ) and its neat to see what you'll get (although apparently you'll get +3 to two stats and +1 to another and +hp/mana and +1 resist so i guess theres not a lot of surprise there.. at least til we see some legs and bp's)

Min Level solo or grouped? Solo I'd prolly say 50, as some of these things do hit semi-hard, and your solo-ability really depends on your class.
If your grouped with 6 people of your level, than I'd 40'ish.

About the jewel drops, they can drop off alot of different mobs
bring a ranger scince luclin came out ive been fear kiting in dawnshroud from lvl 41 all the way too my current lvl 48
Ive gotten jewels off large zelniaks and rockhoppers.

the drops rate seems too be the same, rather rare that a jewel drops but they do drop, i was getting more off zelniaks then rockhoppers just cuase i could kill faster but the drop rate for jewels has been relativily the same> less then 1 per day

Sorry, no new info here, but just a thought that may help people decide whether or not to go after these items. Using a formula mentioned earlier, you could probably get an idea of what any bp/tunic/robe may look like statwise for any class. I'll use the druid tunic as an example. This is a COMPLETE but logical GUESS on the druid tunic. Going off the same pattern we've seen on other pieces, lets take a look at the enchanter robe.

AC15 +3dex +5cha +8int +10hp +20mana +2FR/CLD/MAG

Broken down as 'petercorbin' did earlier with other pieces that would be:
+8 to main stat
+5 to secondary
+3 to tertiary

So I would guess for the druid tunic, substitue WIS for INT and STA for CHA. DEX would remain as the third stat. I imagine saves would remain the same and possibly mana as well, but +hp and AC would be different. All in all not a bad piece especially for a mid 30s to mid 40s druid. I may go after this myself to hopefully confirm it.

While the locations and name in the guide are great, they are a bit misleading.
All the items can drop from pretty much any appropriate level mob (35+?) but it all has to do with the adjative that is either before or after the name.
i.e. "explosive" whatever - drops metorite jewel
"orbed" whatever - drops oracle orb
The right way to do the list, is to do it with the correct adjatives involved, not necessarily the name, or the zone.

on a side note.. the zones ARE important to list because for example there are at least two 'potent rockhoppers', one in mons letalis and one in scarlet desert.. also there are at least 2 'grol baku historian' s (tenebrous mts and scarlet desert) and they drop diff items.

on another side note, i kill a few mobs that are 'named' like the quest mobs but drop lewt instead of items.. like dark and howling shadows for example.. i killed an alien bodyguard in scarlet 2x and 1st time got some nice caster sleeves, ac 8 +3 wis +3 int and +20 mana all/all (wt 1.5) i think.. and the 2nd time dropped an AC 15 +5 sta +20 hp bracer all plate classes.. thats better than the quest ones hee hee. I respectfully disagree with much of your assessment.

Things I have personally noticed that lead me to believe this are:

I have killed the same named in the same zone several times and received the exact same item. Light Spire Spirit in Mons Letalis has ALWAYS dropped Light Etched Star Ruby for me, all 3 times I've killed it.

There are (as mentioned) mobs of the same name, in different zones, that drop different items, but the XXZone version appears to always drop the XXItem (note, violent rockhoppers for one example)

As far as the gems are concerned, that is where I agree with your assessment. While "an explosive MOB_01" might have dropped a "meteor jewel" for you, I think the jewels themselves are actually random drops off of any mob of the appropriate level. How else could one explain "a sun revenant" dropping sky, star, and meteor jewels, which they all have for me. Or a "vas ren guardian" dropping the same assortment of jewels? What does "a vas ren guardian" have to do with the named jewels?

I think the list is arranged in about the best manner possible, given the huge number of items and the widespread locations of the drops.

So, when I am only 1 item away from my "uber-quest-item_01" I can guarantee you I will look at this list, and go kill whatever common mobs (underbulks, shadows, etc) until the named "whatever shadow" drops my item.

Could someone double-check the Wizard Pants? Right now the listed components are only three (whereas they should require four - all other classes need four items for their leg armor), and two of those three items are also needed for the Wizard Shoulderpiece ... seems to me like an error.

There are a few quest items found without quests, one of which is a Mark of Energy - wizard, anyone?

Pardon the duplication if this has already been posted, but here is what I have found after fighting in Tenebrous Mtns, Twilight, Scarlet, and a few other luclin zones.

Named mobs in Scarlet generally fall into 2 catagories. Mobs that have names like cunning cheetah, bigheaded tro jeg, Pious Sun rev etc.. and others that have names like Sun Rev Desacrator, Tro Jeg FireRider, Bloodtribe Surveryor.. most of the time the mobs that have a title following their mob type name drops items, while mobs that have title in front of their names drop quest items. It seems to be the main rule for all the alien races, tro jeg, bal guku, cal gi etc, but light cralwers, rockhoppers, cheetahs, and bloodtribes don't always follow that rule.

Nearly 90% percent of time the named mob will drop the exact same item each and every time. I have however seen the loot table changed in Scarlet 2 times it seems after patches. But that was only on mobs that were dropping non quest items.

Quest mobs seem to only spawn in certain areas of zones also. So walk around in zones after you have killed everything in your area and chances are u will see more mobs in different area.
The more you kill of a mob type the more often I see a named mob, tho sometimes it seems they spawn in the area next to mine so always move around. There can also be more than one of the same named mob up at the same time.

My biggest bitch about the quests is the gems. I have been killing in Luclin since level 46, Mostly in Scarlet, Twilight, I am now well into 49 and I have only ever seen ONE gem drop in 3 levels and the dam things r lore

So, make sure you collect the sun, moon, astral, sky, meteor gems and hold on to them cause they sure seem extremely rare to me.

Note that this source was taken when Luclin came out, and may be changed by now. It appears to me that Verant just made a bunch of mistakes when doing these -- there are quite a few items that require duplicate components, and quite a few components that have been found that are not used. For example, two enchanter pieces use the hope onyx, yet none use the hope sapphire that has been found. It'll be interesting to see what happens when people try and complete these recipes (if the hope onyx really works for both).

I was doing some tables by mob name, and by zone, and by mob name and zone.. and noticed that there seems to be some interesting patterns so far.. although there are a lot of holes still.. one was that for many different kinds of mobs, like rockhoppers for example, 13 different ones (since i updated my list last a few days ago) have been found in scarlet desert, and 13 in dawnshroud and 9 so far in mons letalis.. and each one drops an item for a different class.. so, assuming that there are 15 mobs total, one for each class.. you could basically kill that type of mob until you got the classes you wanted, or all of them i guess.. this pattern so far repeats on other types of mobs, like spire spirits in mon letalis, lightcrawlers in scarlet desert, etc.. i havent finished cross referencing all this yet but it looks like it holds for shadows, turtles and underbulks too in twilight sea.. and it is possible that the scavenger minnow has 15 different drops.. although i havent checked that either.. kinda interesting. The aliens (or butt ugly martians BUM's for short, or whatever you want to call them) don't necessarily seem to follow this pattern though at least in tenebrous mts..

another thing i was wondering about though, was if some of these guys had static spawns or not.. or specific areas they spawn.. like the BUM's in twilight.. i've only seen guys in the hidden underwater valley drop stuff and not on the islands by scarlet. I also have seen a few of the revenants at particular camps in scarlet desert.. has anyone gotten one off one of the revenants that are out in the zone and not at one of their camps? Or any of the bloodtribe guys outside of the network of caverns in scarlet? Anyway.. I seem to only find the BUM's in their tents or near by that seem to be on the table.. It would be interesting if certain ones would only spawn at certain huts so we wouldnt have to randomly select them for termination.

Also please keep posting where you get the jewels from.. my main source so far has been sonic dire wolves in tenebrous (trying to get that damn frenzied darkwing bat in the meantime) and others have said fungus in dawnshroud, etc.. if thats true then those mobs dont really have a named cycle (as opposed to darkwing bats or what not.. with exceptions like the light sonic dire wolf) maybe drop the gems while the ones that do have a table dont? who knows

I've gotten a Cloud Jewel, Sky Jewel and Sun Jewel off Lightcrawlers and scarlet cheetahs in SD.. no special mobs, just uber rare.. also got 4 star rubies, not too bad

but that is like 2000 of the things killed , so not too good either

Here's what I can tell ya. 2 of the first very few quest item droppers i killed were sun revenants, and oddly, both popped in the same static spot in SD near the gray zone. the crumbled ruins place that the static sun rev's hang out at. havent seen another "named" in that spot since.

I have killed 2 roaming bloodtribe's for items as well. 1 was near the twilight zone, roaming, and not near another bloodtribe. at least, there were none within eyeshot of me when he died. Other one was way up north, standing facing the zone border wall *shrug*

i have never killed a quest-item dropper in SD near the tents. only the oddball ones that drop items, grol baku benefactor, bodyguard, etc. The vas ren holyman that i killed there was in a "static" spot near the small body of water in SD, in one of the places that a vas ren protector usually spawns.

so, unfortunatly, i wouldnt classify them as only popping in 1 spot, or as static or roamer only

Well, there is evidence that certain mobs spawn in certain locations. For example, I've killed the cunning rockhopper in Dawnshroud 4 times and every time he was in the same place. Also I've killed the Grol Baku Librarian twice and he was in the same place too. It's harder to tell with the mobs that wander around though...

But as far as adding that to the table, it ain't gonna happen. It's hard enough getting accurate information when just asking for mob name, item name, and zone. =)
