The decision to combine Gen Con Europe and Games Spectacular was made with the desire to create a partnership that allowed us to combine the
two shows in mainland Europe.* After much consideration, Gen Con Europe has decided to go solo.* Gen Con has a long tradition with the core hobby gaming market with strong connections to US game manufacturers and we want to keep focused on that long tradition and provide a true Gen Con experience.** Gen Con Europe will be a game convention which
includes a trade hall filled with game manufacturers and retailers, tournaments, open gaming, an art show, seminars, celebrities, and evening entertainment such as an Auction, a costume contest, and much
more.

The schedule for the three Gen Con conventions is as follows:

April 18-21, 2003, Gen Con Europe, Olympia Two Convention Center,
London, UK
*

July 24-27, 2003, Gen Con Indy, Indiana Convention Center, Indianapolis,
Indiana, USA

December 10-14, 2003, Gen Con So Cal, Anaheim Convention Center,
Anaheim, California, USA*

I have to be honest, I'm not too thrilled with the split GenCon schedule. Part of what made GenCon so awesome in the past was that once a year, all of us geeks flocked to the midwest for 4 days of gaming heaven. Its like Christmas, once a year its awesome... but if you had Christmas in July too it would start to ruin the magic.

Bleh, but then again I hate everything Edited by: Glip the Gnome at: 2/13/03 12:20:20 pm

If anyone is planning on heading to Indy for Gencon and wants to save a few bucks, you can get hotel rooms for about half the cost of the downtown rooms if you book near the airport or around the beltway, and many hotels offer free shuttle service to the Convention center.

You can't swing a dead Glip in Indy without hitting a hotel. Llabaktharr Gigglegiggler

Yeah, but it's nice having a hotel room connected directly to the convention center.

Aye, but maybe 60 bucks a night for 4 nights would be worth it
