D20 - Munchkin was released a week or so ago and now that I've had the chance to sit down and play a couple times, I figured I'd come and share.

The basics:
The D20 book is small both in size (think 5x10 instead of 8x11) and page count (about 50 pages). It contains 'new' descriptions on the basic races / classes and some new skills, feats, equipment, and spells (examples listed below). Everything in the book is over-the-top humor ... the whole game is based around kicking ass, taking names, and scoring the biggest, baddest loot.

Examples of content:

Feats
Humiliating Shot (shooting an enemy in a ... vital ... spot)
Impressive Flourish (drawing your weapon = automatic attack)
Shagging the DM (every 30min you can reroll on something of your choice)

Equipment
Holy Water Balloons (self explanatory)
Bad-Ass Bandana (+2 AC)
Masterwork Die (+1 to all die rolls)
11-Foot Pole ("For the things you wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole.")

Spells
Cure Insignificant Wounds (self explanatory)
Detect Best Treasure (self explanatory)
Bill B's Unwelcome Touch ("The less said about this spell, the better.")
Invisibilty to the Blind (now those pesky blind people won't see you!)
Wall of Dice (roll *all* your dice for damage)

Random remarks:
If any of that made you chuckle, I'd really recommend picking the book up. It's $14.99 and I think it's a good purchase just to read, let alone play ... but then stupid things amuse me It's not something I'd play every weekend, but it would be fun to break out every now and then when you just want to kick back and have fun for the night.

Also wanted to mention that all of this is based on the Munchkin card game ... and I don't know a single person that doesn't love it.

Sorry if this reads like a commercial, but most people don't know what Munchkin is and the book was released with very little 'huzzah' ... so I'm hoping people will at least give it a peek now.

Munchkin is really a whole lot of fun. I second the recommendation for the card game if you've got a sense of humor.

I am so getting that. There is also a book in the 'Slayers guide' series called "Slayers Guide to the female gamer" and from the bit I read in the store it is hilarious. Too many things on the to-buy list...too little money.

I love Munchkin! Sometimes it's good to just do something stupid on gaming night!

I have Munchkin & Unnatural Axe. Best friend also has Star Munchkin in addition to the other two, as well as the d20 book which had me in stitches!

Best time was when he was sitting there with his little stuffed Cthulu on the table, and I tried to use the Star Munchkin Cthulu card against him, and he had the cards to turn the bugger right back on me!! He then stroked the little stuffed Cthulu and grinned at me. Bastard. Haunting The Rathe for 3 Years Straight:

Could someone post a link to this Munchkin card game? My friends and I are always looking for something silly to do when our whole group cant get together for gaming, or we just have an hour or so to kill, thanks. Zesty!

Krizzyn-
My post has a link right near the bottom to the Munchkin card game. You can read about it and the add-ons there.

Dang SX, compensating for something? :P "Age and wisdom don't always go together, I've found. ... Some people just become stupid with more authority." -- Terry Pratchett

Nope, but it's the collector's instinct in me

(Okay, seriously, about 60% of the dice resulted when I was at a Fair and they had an offer: as many dice as you can fit into a dice-cup (right word?) for ~$3.... and they had a bunch of nice ones I wanted, so I got like 4-5 cups of dice )

Roll on the day when you can buy dice by the pint...

With a pint of d20s I might still have one left after a month.
