Disconnecting in the game (or getting out of sync)

Anyone have the problem where they find themselves constantly going LD playing multiplayer (well, not really LD, just the computer doesn't update for a long time, leading you to just quit to the main menu yourself)? I'm having real problems with disconnects, I'm on a cable modem and don't have these problems with any of the MMORPGs I've tried.

Update: I manually opened the ports on my router which also enables me to host a game, and this has helped considerably.
