Came across this site from a wikipedia link binge and it's a pretty funny read. A critique of 40 different pieces of Rob Liefeld panels

A fun Liefeld drinking game: take a shot for every pouch he draws on a character. Oh great, now you have alcohol poisoning.

I actually read through the whole thing. I got a little insensible at times but was funny as hell.

As a side note, my friend is really talented artist, love doing comic art, and we grew up drawing stuff together. To this day (he graduated an Art Major) he rarely comments on anything I've drawn or doodled. Now I can see why.

Gonna finish reading it up later, but wtf doesn't this guy use his own server or w/e? Is he hotlinking all these pictures? Several of them are missing on the first page alone, and searching for the first missing one shows that its been linked tons of places, stupid google image search finds it on that article and has a thumbnail for it, but there's no way to view the full size one since it just links to image shack which says its not there.

Great link, thanks!
I should scan in some of my drawings from when I was twelve. Reading this article has made it obvious that I read far too much Liefield as a kid.

I wish I wouldn't have. It took years to unlearn his terrible drawing style (terrible proportions, tiny feet, tons of lines all over the neck, stupid poses, etc).

My gods, what TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE artwork. He could at least have put things into proportion, and learned sort of how hands look when holding things...

I used to idolize his artwork when I was young as well.
MAN! What was I thinking!?

The one with the Human Torch and the Thing just about killed me reading it.

Im laughing really hard at #14 with Shatterstar. I think its because I really would elbow the hell out of my friends if I saw someone with 3 ponytails

Another great quote (although I would say it isn't true for all of the Image Studios):

* here is a simple guide to creating your own Image Comics character

1 - take a pre-existing Marvel or DC Comics character that fat guys would like (The Punisher)
2 - change his name to couple a negatively connotative word (blood, die, death) with a second but completely unrelated negatively connotative word (shot, hard, blow)
3 - draw scribbles all over him
4 - do not make him engaging or interesting ever

I've disliked Liefeld's work since he ruined the New Mutants. But I do feel sorry for him. He is the subject of so much nerd rage. If people just stopped buying his comics then we wouldn't have to keep seeing his less than stellar artwork, and companies would stop hiring him.

He obviously thinks he is good at his job, and for some damned reason that is backed up by the fact that people keep buying what he is selling. Everyone that purchased X-Force, Youngblood, Captain America, and whatever other comics he has drawn are to blame. If he wasn't getting validation based on sales, maybe he'd realize that he needs to pursue a different career or improve his skills at his chosen vocation. His stint on the Marvel relaunch of Cap is what caused me to stop purchasing the comic, and I'm pretty sure I had a 15 year uninterrupted run of it.

A not so funny link, is this one, which shows how many other artists he swipped art panels from.

Another great quote (although I would say it isn't true for all of the Image Studios):Of course not.

Invincible is ridiculous in how awesome it is.
